Rose M. Wald, 94, of Iron Ridge, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, May 15, 2020, at Marvin’s Manor in Horicon.
She was born the daughter of Edwin and Erna (Meyer) Collien on January 31, 1926, at her family home in Mayville.
She was united in marriage with John “Jack” Wald on June 21, 1947, at St. Mary’s in Mayville.
Rose helped her husband as his bookkeeper for his cabinet business and also worked for Purity Cheese in Mayville besides raising her four sons.
Rose was very involved at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Woodland, where she did many readings and served on the Altar Guild.
Rose loved baking, especially with her grandchildren and was famous for her butterhorns. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed playing games with them when they were young. She loved to play bingo at Marvin’s Manor and liked doing their exercise class.
Rose will be missed by her four sons, John and April of Hartford, Tom and Kathy of Madison, Jerry and Diane of Mayville and Jim and Linda of Mayville; eight grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Matt (Jessica), Ben (Anna), Jeremy, Kristin (Jesse) Eichorst, Ariel (special friend Josh), and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Aleaya Neu and Jaedyn Neu, children of Kristin; sisters and brothers, Helen Beck, Raymond (Joanne) Collien, Delores Neumeyer and Melvin “Cookie” Collien; and sister-in-law, Lucille Collien. Rose is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack in 2003; sister, Maxine (Leo) Weyer; brother, Edward Collien; and sisters and brothers-in-law.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial took place on Wednesday, May 20, with Fr. Justin Lopina presiding. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Woodland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Rose’s name to the charity of one’s choice or to her family. Memorials may be mailed to the Koepsell Funeral Home, Attn: Wald Family, 301 N Walnut Street, Mayville WI 53050.
Rose’s family would like to thank the staff at Marvin’s Manor in Horicon for their great care of their mom for the last 15 years.
