Marcia A. Milewski
Marcia A. (Del Ponte) Milewski, 87, of Miller Pointe Nursing Home, Mandan, ND, passed away on May 15, 2020, from complications of surgery.
Marcia was born June 4, 1932, in Knowles, to Battiste ‘Tieste’ and Wilhelmina ‘Billie’ (Weber) Del Ponte.
She graduated from Mayville High School in 1949.
On November 26, 1949, she married John F. Milewski in St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy.
Marcia was employed as a waitress, and later for many years at Amity Leather in West Bend. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Iron River, John’s original home.
While there she was a member of the Iron River Rebekah Lodge and enjoyed all the charitable work they accomplished. Her favorite time was spent making many blueberry pies for the Lions Club 4th of July event each year.
Marcia also enjoyed working in her gardens, both her beautiful flower beds and the vegetable garden she and her husband planted each year. They took great pride in their harvests, along with canning and freezing the results. Marcia was a voracious reader, loved putting puzzles together, and completing word search puzzles.
Prior to moving to Mandan, Marcia was a resident at Golden Manor Basic Care Assisted Living in Steele, ND. She was well known at both places for her spunk and sparkle.
Survivors include three children, Dave (Sharon Waas) of Mayville, Beth (Jeff Lauters) of Steele, ND, and Jean (Bill Sommers) of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Tim (Nicole) Lauters, Wanda (Travis) Thomsen, Tasha (Aaron) Saraurer, Shaun Milewski, Casey (Tom) Fechter, Amber (Nate) Reynolds, Mitchell (Brandy) Dreher, John Mike (Sara) Milewski, Jen (Ben) Maschke; 14 great-grandchildren, Jamie and Garrett Lauters, Tanner and Paige Milewski, Emelia and Madelynn Maschke, Mason and Riley Hill, Taylor and Teresa (Reese) Fechter, Elise and Henry Reynolds, Fritz and Adalee Dreher. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Peggy Milewski of Faribault, MN, and sister, Diane (Roger) Zangl of LeRoy, and sister-in-law, Pat Del Ponte of Knowles.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 2000; her son, John M; two brothers, David and Gordon; and twin grandchildren.
Inurnment and private family graveside services were held on Sunday, May 24, at St Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Iron River.
