Rob Bowe In the late 1840s into the 1850s, in northeast Dodge County the villages of Horicon, Mayville, Theresa, Farmersville, LeRoy and Lomira attracted Yankee investors, mostly from New York, Massachusetts and Vermont. They invested in iron mining and smelting, and the building of saw and grain mills, retail stores and shops, all of which attracted a mixture of professional businessmen, American and European laborers, craftsmen and tradesmen.
