LaVern Lucy Priest

  LaV­ern Lucy (nee Liegl) Priest, en­tered eter­nal life on Mon­day Au­gust 5, 2024. She was born No­vem­ber 4, 1931, to Philip and Adelia (nee Oech­sner) Liegl and was the 8th of 12 chil­dren.
  On Au­gust 20, 1949, she mar­ried Mer­lin C. Priest in LeRoy. To­gether they farmed in the town of Lomira. LaV­ern grew up in the town of LeRoy. Her job as a child was to bake home­made bread each day for the fam­ily. She worked at the local diner with her sis­ter and be­came a won­der­ful cook and baker.
 She will be re­mem­bered as a true home­maker and made the best home­made schaum torte. She had beau­ti­ful huge veg­etable and fruit gar­dens and amaz­ing flower gar­dens. She was al­ways avail­able to help her chil­dren and grand­chil­dren. She was a beau­ti­ful seam­stress and helped her hus­band with chores on the fam­ily farm and build­ing Ster­ling Homes.
 She was a proud mem­ber of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide or­ga­ni­za­tion for many years.
She is sur­vived by her chil­dren, Mer­lin Jr. (Pa­tri­cia) Priest, Joy (Mike) Thorn, Bruce (Julie) Priest, Todd (Colleen) Priest; nine grand­chil­dren, Shel­ley Priest, Scott (Stephanie) Priest, Bob­bie Jo Thorn, Nicholas (Stacey) Thorn, Daniel (Melissa) Priest, Abby (Dan) Mose, Mitchell (Kelsi) Priest, Pay­ton Priest, and Noah Priest; nine great-grand­chil­dren, Alexis Valle, Dako­tah Ju­r­gens­mier, Seth Priest, Olivia and Eve­lyn Thorn, Jack­son Priest, Macie Mose, Henry and Nel­lie Priest; a great-great grand­child, Samuel Stakes; two sis­ters-in-law, Erna Liegl and Do­raine Priest; a brother-in-law, Jim (Jan) Priest; a spe­cial niece, Sharon Chime­leski; and many rel­a­tives and friends.
She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; her hus­band of 55 years, Mer­lin, on Au­gust 23, 2004; her broth­ers and sis­ters, Melvin Liegl, Dorothy (Wal­ter) Stortz, Lil (Lloyd) Metke, Al­bert (Do­lores) Liegl, Alex Liegl, Philip (Mary Jane) Liegl, Rosie (Ralph) Braun, Phyl­lis (Ralph) Bod­den, Rita (Rod­ney) Giese, Ber­nice (Robert) Ste­ger, and Lu­cille Theusch; her broth­ers and sis­ters-in-law, Mar­vin (Ardell) Priest, Do­lores (Her­man) Mold­en­hauer and Robert Priest.
VIS­I­TA­TION: LaV­ern’s fam­ily will greet rel­a­tives and friends at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 550 Water Street, in Lomira, on Sat­ur­day, Au­gust 10, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
SER­VICE: A ser­vice for LaV­ern will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. Rev. Rick Zahn will of­fi­ci­ate and bur­ial of her cre­mated re­mains will fol­low the ser­vice in the church ceme­tery.
Memo­ri­als will be used to­wards St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira.
