Gladwyn “Tyne” Sturrock
Gladwyn “Tyne” Sturrock (nee Jaques), 102, of Rogers MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Tyne was born on October 20, 1922, in her family’s farmhouse outside Killarney, Manitoba, Canada. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in January 1942 and was trained as a Morse Code Operator. In January 1945 she was discharged and moved to Winnipeg, Canada.
On May 25, 1946, Tyne was married to John Sturrock, at Augustine United Church in Winnipeg.
Tyne and John enjoyed a wonderful life together, moving to the United States, raising three girls, and celebrating 53 years of marriage before John’s passing in 1999.
Tyne was small throughout her life but she was mighty. She had a generous spirit and a strong constitution. She weighed three pounds when she was born, beat cancer four times, and lived through the Depression. She dedicated her life to the well being of her family.
Those Tyne leaves behind to cherish her memory include her three children, Gail (Jim Stryzewski) Prokop and her son, John (Dawn) Prokop; Joan (Terry) Ernst and their two children, Tony (Christy) Ernst and Ami Ernst; Jackie (Gordon) Zimmerman and their two children, Melissa (Brian) Binotto, and Matthew (Heather) Zimmerman; and one sister, Liz (Ted) Hendry, and eight great-grandchildren, Nick, Ethan, Chandler, Juillet, Carson, Colvin, Hayleigh and Luke.
In addition to her husband, Tyne was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
