James R. ‘Chunky’ Weinberger, 68, of LeRoy, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, at Hope Senior Living in Lomira.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy with Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 1 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery in LeRoy at a later date.
Chunky was born the son of James Jr. and Helen (Krapfl) Weinberger on January 22, 1956, in Waupun. He was a graduate of Mayville High School. Chunky was united in marriage to Linda L. Blank on November 12, 1977.
He had worked as a quality inspector for Metalcraft. Chunky was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy.
In his spare time, Chunky enjoyed sports and watching them, especially golf. Family was important to him and he cherished the time spent with them, especially his grandchildren.
Chunky is survived by his children, Jim (Melissa) Weinberger of Hartford and Josh (Sherri Gradel) Weinberger of Rubicon; his grandchildren, Kendall, Ethan, and Jack Weinberger; his former daughter-in-law, Monica Weinberger of Hartford; his siblings, Ken (Shirley) Weinberger, Patti Weinberger, Judy (Ron) Rose, Rick Weinberger, Susan Weinberger, Nancy (Larry) Bogenschneider, Anthony (Kim) Weinberger, Gerard ‘Chipper’ (Anna Maria) Weinberger, Todd (Darra) Weinberger, and Lisa (Dennis) Fleischer; his siblings-in-law, Bev Schmuhl, David ‘Charlie’ (Connie) Blank, Carol (Keith) Weyer, and Jeff (Micki) Blank; further survived be nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Milton (Mathilda) Blank; his wife, Linda; and brother-in-law, Tom Schmuhl.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in loving memory of Chunky may be directed to St. Andrew Restoration Fund or St. Vincent De Paul.
