Donald Lichtensteiger


Donald Lichtensteiger, 90, formerly of Campbellsport, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, surrounded by his beloved family at Lakeview Assisted Living in Fond du Lac. He was born in Campbellsport on July 9, 1931, the son of Leo and Charlotte (nee Glass) Lichtensteiger. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On October 2, 1954, Don married Mary Ann Ruplinger at St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian. Don worked for Twohig Furniture and Funeral Home for over 40 years doing floor covering and also as a funeral assistant. He enjoyed their summer vacations in Shawano, playing sheepshead, golfing and going to the casino.Survivors include his sons, Steve (Janet), Dennis (Barb) and Chuck (Rhonda); grandchildren, Jodi (Seamus) Garvey, Cheri (Kevin) McCourt, Traci Lichtensteiger, Stacey (Dan) Hall, Joshua (Eileen) Lichtensteiger, Kristi (partner Raven) Weis, Mike (fiancé Kali) Lichtensteiger, Allie Jo (Mike) Hauptli, Drew (Amanda) Lichtensteiger, Ashley (Josh) Blatz and Tom (Amber) Lichtensteiger; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Amatta Keller; sister-in-law, Audrey Ruplinger; brother-in-law, Don Kuehl; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann, on September 1, 2020; son, Thomas; brother, Ed (June) Lichtensteiger; sister, Shirley Kuehl; in-laws, Kilian and Mary Ruplinger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray Keller, Ralph and Florence Ruplinger, Leander Ruplinger, John and Edna Ruplinger, Cordell and Arnold Amerling, Viola and Wilmer Kudek, Bernice and Frank Fleischman, Helen and Elroy Zettler and Madeline and Leo Zehren.Visitation was held Monday, November 15, starting at 10 a.m. until time of Mass at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 406 E. Nancy L. Brodzeller, 82, of West Bend, formerly of Kewaskum, was called home on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk, with her family at her side and her loving husband holding her hand. Nancy was born on Oc tober 16, 1939, in Hartford, the daughter of late Christian and Melinda (nee Krahn) Keller. Nancy graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, Class of 1958. On December 5, 1964, she was united in marriage to Harvey Brodzeller at Peace United Church of Christ in Fond du Lac.She was employed at Reiter Podiatry in West Bend where she took good care of Dr. Reiter along with his patients. Nancy was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum for 53 years where she was involved in the church choir and served on many committees there. Nancy loved to dance, cook, and entertain for her family and friends. Her great grandchildren and family were the light of her life. Nancy was loved by everybody - her huge personality and smile is how she will always be remembered.Those Nancy leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Harvey; two children, Kim (Cliff) Clark of West Bend and Mark (Kara) Brodzeller of Lake Geneva; six grandchildren, Nicole (David) Brei, Nathan Behring, Rebekah Clark, Hannah Clark, Zachary Brodzeller, and Abby Brodzeller; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Nora, and Jade Brei; her siblings, Ronald (Barb) Keller and Christine (Mike) Weimer; four sisters-in-law, Maryann Batnich, Rosemary Bath, Gwen Brodzeller, and Alma Brodzeller; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Keller and Clarence (Dorothy) Keller; three sisters, Mae (Gene) Becker, Marilyn (Eddie) Schultz, and Donna Keller; her brothers-in-law, Harold Brodzeller and Thomas Brodzeller.Visitation: Nancy’s family will greet relatives and friends at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First Street, in Kewaskum on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.Funeral service: A funeral service for Nancy will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Peace UCC in Kewaskum with Rev. Rohn Thomas Bishop, 63, of Waupun, passed away November 10, 2021, after a long battle with Covid.Rohn was born July 13, 1958, in Elgin, IL, the son of Lila and F. Warren Bishop. Rohn grew up with his much loved sister, Sue. He graduated from Lake Park High School, IL, in 1976.Rohn married Mimi Dowling in September 1978. They were married for 18 years and blessed with two sons, Rohn and Tom. In 1998, Rohn married Krista Lynn Dates. They met line dancing in Beaver Dam. Rohn loved to dance.He owned and operated Bishops Car Wash & Detail Center in Waupun from 1978-2021. He took great pride in serving on the Waupun City Council from 1988–1993. During his time on the council, he started the Business Improvement District (BID) and East End Development. He also started development on the business park. Rohn also served as treasurer for both the Waupun Historical Society and the Waupun Downtown Promotions. While involved with the Historical Society Rohn worked on getting the historical plaques for the historic downtown buildings. He started the annual Cemetery Walk in 2015.Rohn and Krista loved motorcycling, taking day long road trips, and exploring the rustic roads of Wisconsin. Rohn loved the Smoky Mountains where he and Krista got married. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren, singing Christmas carols in church and making Bennett laugh while singing “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”. He adored his time with the grandkids. Rohn loved his Saturday lunches with his son Rohn and spending time with Tom detailing cars in Kewaskum.Rohn was an incredible cook and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. He was a member of the Jaycees, the Freemasons, the Waupun Area Chamber of Commerce, and the International Car Wash Association. If Rohn were still here he’d want you to know “a clean car lasts longer.”Rohn is survived by his wife, Krista (Dates) Bishop; his sons: Rohn (Jennifer) W. Bishop and Thomas (Kristy) F. Bishop; his step-son, Zachariah C. (Kandy) Lewandowski of Texas; five grandchildren: Reagan, Bennett, Bristol, Margaret, and Colette; former wife, Mimi Dowling; and his sister, Susan (Stan) Bishop Szara and their three children. He also leaves behind his beloved schnauzer, Gatling.Rohn was preceded in death by his parents, F. Warren and Lila Bishop; and a step-son, Joshua Lewandowski.Funeral services for Rohn Bishop were held Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. and Edgewood Community Church in Waupun with Pastor Adam Baker officiating. September 15, 1965 – November 3, 2021 John E. Kumrow, 56, of Campbellsport passed away on November 3, 2021, surrounded by his family. John was born on September 15, 1965, a son of Mary and David Kumrow.John was born and raised in West Bend Wisconsin and graduated from West Bend East. He loved to spend time with his family, especially when it involved a good meal. John enjoyed Wisconsin sports, especially the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks.John is survived by his mother, Mary; his children, Jon (Katie) Kumrow, Alec (Amy) Kumrow, and Gretta Kumrow; grandchildren, Elliana, Claire, and Kellan; his sisters, Kellie Kumrow, Peggy (Mark) Justman, Caroline (Scott) Wollner, and Jennifer Schmitt as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.Preceding him in death were his father, David Kumrow; brother-in-law, Joseph Schmitt; and his grandparents.John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the girls at Lakeland Care, the staff from West Bend Dialysis, and his godfather Dennis T. Karla A. Schulz (Martin), age 43 years, of Kewaskum, was called home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2021, at Froedtert West Bend Hospital surrounded by her loving family.Karla was born on April 27, 1978, in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to Chad Schulz on October 27, 2001, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.Karla graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1996. She then earned her associate degree in Food Science from Moraine Park Technical College and went on to work at Gehl Foods for 20+ years. Karla was currently working at West Shore Group in Fond du Lac.Karla’s favorite place to be was at her camper hanging with friends and enjoying life.Those Karla leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband, Chad; her mother, Anne Martin; three brothers, Chad, Nick (Danielle), and Troy; and her grandmother, Sharon Woodworth. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.Karla was preceded in death by her maternal grand father, Lee Woodworth; and maternal grandmother, Mary McElroy.A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (331 Main Street - Kewaskum, WI) with Father Mark Jones officiating. William Koenen, 78, of Waupun, peacefully passed away on November 11, 2021, at Prairie Ridge in Waupun, with Sharon at his side. William was born December 15, 1942, in Kewaskum, WI the son of Jacob and Cora Wiesner Koenen. He graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac in 1962. He continued his education at St. Norbert College in De Pere where he received his Bachelor’s degree.On August 1, 1970, he married Sharon Lloyd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eden. They resided in De Pere for six years, moved to Beaver Dam, and in 2000 moved to Waupun.Playing baseball was Bill's passion, and he satisfied it when he played with the Mayville Legion team, his high school and college teams, and Rock River League teams, where he won the 1961 Batting Championship for its Northern Division, playing for Brownsville. Later he coached youth teams, and followed that by attending every one of his sons' games, and many of his grandson's games. Later, golf replaced baseball as a source of abundant challenges and fun at Old Hickory in Beaver Dam.Bill served three years in the Army, attending Officer Candidate School and spending a year in Korea. He put in another 24 years in the Army Reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. While doing that, he was a manufacturing engineer at John Deere in Horicon for 27 years. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun.William is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon; two sons: Greg (Mary) Koenen of Vienna, Virginia and Dan Koenen of St. Charles, IL.; three grandchildren: Sam, Mia, and Ben; a sister, Arlene (Robert) Gellings of Campbellsport, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.William was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.Funeral services for William Koenen will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun with Fr. David J. Hensen, 89, formerly of Campbellsport, passed away peacefully with his beloved family gathered around him on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Crossroads in Mayville.He was born in Fond du Lac on October 23, 1932, the son of Rolland and Sedonia (nee Dreifuerst) Hensen. On May 15, 1954, Dave married Phyllis Nichols at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Campbellsport.He worked with his father in the Hensen Sheet Metal Business, the West Bend Company, Weasler Engineering, Brenner Tank, St. Joseph Convent, Jerry Mann Wood Splitting and Ziegler Machine Shop before retiring. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping; taught hunter safety and was a very good cook. Most important to Dave was time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren; he loved them all.Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; children, Sue (Dean) Backhaus of Mayville, Lois (Jim) Petersen of Campbellsport, David J (Kay) Hensen, Jr. of Birmingham, AL and Steve (Lisa) Hensen of El Paso, TX; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his siblings, Joyce (Jim) St. Mary, Dick (Barb) Hensen, Paul (Helen) Hensen and Lou Ann (Mark) Benike; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Peter; and sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Dick Thoma.A family committal service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at St. Matthews Cemetery with Rev. Peter Donald Baertschy born on May 19, 1942, passed away at age 79 on the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, after his battle with cancer. Peter passed peacefully with his four children by his side. Peter was one of a kind and will be truly missed. Peter was father to Fritz Baertschy, Jason Kindler, Gretchen Kniffin, and Benjamin Baertschy, husband and loving friend to Mary Jo Koenen; loving father-in-law to Heidi Baertschy, Karrie Kindler, Zack Kniffin and Tiffany Baertschy; a loving and playful grandfather, lovingly known to his adored grandkids as 'Papa' and 'Polar Pops' for his cuddly nature; loving brother to Barbara Pagel and John Baertschy; son of Frederick 'Putz' Oscar Baertschy and Doris Amanda Baertschy.Peter dedicated his life to recovery and helping those suffering from addiction. Suffering from addiction himself and later, becoming sober, his life's mission became helping others. His work impacted so many and created a wave of change within the field of recovery that will continue on. He was a quiet giant with a gentle loving nature, a fiery side, huge sense of humor and spiritual nature that was nurtured through his work and travels. He filled a room with a gentle observing presence and had an infectious laugh that was undeniable.Peter loved travel and experiencing new things. He placed roots in Shorewood (Wisconsin), Rockford, (Illinois), Alaska, Louisiana, Thailand, Fond du Lac (Wisconsin) and Milwaukee (Wisconsin). He loved cooking for family and friends and was famous for his German potato salad, chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles and entertaining with copious amounts of food. He truly loved music of all kinds, traveling with his kids in drum corps, theatre, collecting art and clothes, spending time with his grandkids, and having long talks over coffee. Those who knew him or crossed paths with him are forever changed. His loss is great and will be felt around the world.

Herbert E. Westphal, 90, of Iron Ridge, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021. Herbert was born January 23, 1931, in the Town of Herman, to Hertha (nee Lentz) and Reinhold Westphal. He attended Woodland school in the Town of Herman until eighth grade. He proudly served our country in the United States Army in the Korean War 1952 to 1954 and served six years in the Army Reserve. He was a communication specialist in the 61st Artillery Battalion. He received the National Service Medal, U.S. Service Medal, Korean Service ribbon with Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Service Star Republic of Korea. He was a member of the Hustisford Legion Post 420, Hartford Post 8834, and the Disabled Veterans.Herbert was united in marriage to Delores Ann Young on June 18, 1955, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rubicon.Herbert worked at Pal-o-Pak in Iron Ridge, the Lumber Yard in Woodland, the Chrysler Corporation in Hartford, and farmed his entire life on the family farm. He loved to farm, fish, play cards, gamble, pull practical jokes, reupholster furniture, and build: bird houses, toys and jewelry out of wood.Herbert is survived by his four children, Diane (Bob Justmann) Firari, Debra (Bob) Roeseler, Dale (Sandra) and Duane (Sarah); 11 grandchildren, Shawn Westphal, Steve (Megan) Firari, Scott (Cory) Firari and Michael (Amber) Firari; Robyn (Bob Schilter) Roeseler; Matthew Westphal, Brooke (Kyle) Moran and Madelyn Westphal; Andrew (Kate) Christensen, Katelyn (Jake) Soltis and Kelsey (Carson) Faulkner; 19 great-grandchildren, Trent (Sydney) and Tyler (Shannon) Westphal, Tiana (Christopher) Clucas, Wyatt Westphal, Kylee, Hailey and Eva Firari, Miles and Monroe Firari, Mia and Isabelle Firari, Jailyn and Jocelyn Schilter, Owen Moran, Landon and Reid Christensen, Devon, Jayden and Jaxon Soltis; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Brynley and Maverick Westphal; and sisters-in-law, Roseanne Westphal and Donna Kling.
