Charles was born on July 16, 1926, in the home that he lived in his entire life. He was the son of Charles and Hattie (De Motts) Schouten. On September 1, 1948, he was united in marriage to Rose Vande Slunt in Waupun. Together they joyfully raised three children on the family farm. The Schoutens owned the farm for over 100 years. Charles was a dairy farmer until 1969, and was also a mechanic for Lee Turtleott. After he sold the dairy cows, Charles and Rose switched to raising steers and cash cropping. He was also a truck driver for Moorman’s Feed. In 1989, Charles retired as a mechanic for the Waupun City Garage. He loved his family and cherished his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles’ greatest request was that his children be kind and love one another. Charles enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing and traveling out West with his family. Another favorite pastime was feeding and watching the birds. His family was all taught so much from him, building things, learning mechanical repairs, and so much more. He was a great storyteller and prankster. Charles also had a great passion for all their dogs. He loved old Westerns, especially John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Charles’ family will always think of him when watching them. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Rose; loved and adored by his two daughters, Charleen (Martin) Hidde of Waupun and Lori (Dean) Bauer of Brownsville; four grandchildren, Tony (girlfriend, Amanda) Hidde, Eric (Tiffany) Hidde, both of Waupun, Lucas (Alexis) Bauer of North Fond du Lac and Hattie (boyfriend Sage) Bauer of Brownsville; five great-grandchildren, Easton, Kendall, Kinsley, Cheyanne and Wyatt; a sister, Helen Bille of Waupun; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis; a brother, Delmar and his sister, Gladys. Visitation for Charles will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, at First Reformed Church, 422 West Franklin Street, Waupun. Joseph S. Planasch, 91, of Horicon passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family in Horicon. Joe was born the son of Martin and Rose (Hussli) Planasch on April 7, 1929. He attended Horicon High School until entering the US Navy from 1946 to 1950. Joe was united in marriage to Bernice Lauersdorf on June 7, 1957. He had worked as skilled carpenter for 16 years and an iron worker with the Iron Workers Local 8 for 25 years. Joe was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and politics. He was a beautiful cabinet maker, made bows and arrows, built boats, and also raced boats when he was young. He was truly a ‘jack of all trades’. Joe was very proud of his children. Joe is survived by his wife, Bernice of Horicon; his daughter, Christine of Juneau; his son, Donald (Nadine Lehman) of Mayville; his sister, Mary Buschkopf of Surprise, AZ; his four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; sister, Theresa and a sister in infancy, Kathryn; his brother, Martin, Jr., and five brothers-in-law. Sherry was the daughter of Lester and Bernice (Beitz) Kietzer, born July 27, 1943, in Fond du Lac. Valedictorian of the Lomira High School class of 1961, Sherry went on to UW-Oshkosh for two years. On March 15, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart Alfred "Al" Kohli Jr. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira. A lifelong student of ornithology, she was always on the lookout for special birds, particularly cardinals. An avid game player she enjoyed bridge, sheepshead, and casinos. There was never a puzzle too complex for her to tackle. Always cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, she never missed a game. Reading was Sherry's special joy as well as cooking and baking the best apple pies and cookies. Sherry and Al visited all 50 states including Washington DC and traveled many times to Louisiana to visit her granddaughter. Sherry was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira. She was also an active member of The Friends of the Lomira Library. Left behind to cherish Sherry's memory are her husband, Al; three children, Terryl "Terry" Hopper of Springfield, LA, Steven "Steve" Kohli of Green Bay, and Kristine "Kris" (John) Rigotti of Lomira; granddaughter, Danielle Hopper; Tony Beauchamp and Jeff Kohlmann extended family to Kris and John; her brother, Michael "Mike" (Laurene "Red"); sisters-in-law, Betty (Mike) Schraufnagel and Jane Kietzer; brothers-in-law, Morris Rose and John (Theora "Teddy") Kohli; nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Marge Mountin, 102, of Juneau passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4, of natural causes. Marge was born October 19, 1918, in Juneau, the daughter of Edward and Francis (Kraut) Hilgendorf. A lifelong resident of Juneau, Marge married Maurice Mountin on March 8, 1941. Marge and Morry were operators of Mountin’s Grocery Store in downtown Juneau, the store they purchased from Joe Ihde in 1957. The store changed hands in 1968, when their son Jerry took over the family business. Marge continued to work for her son in both his Juneau and Mayville stores up until the age of 85, a total of over 50 years in the grocery business. Marge was also at home in the kitchen cooking for family, friends and neighbors. The long list of culinary delights coming from her kitchen included a chocolate birthday cake with custard filling. She also played bridge on a regular basis with her friends. The “girls” played just about everywhere in Dodge County every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Marge was also an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, always asking, “What time is the game on today?” She also watched football from time to time, mostly because she had a bit of a crush on Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre. Marge is survived by two sons, Jerry (Pat) and Tom; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Mountin; brother, Elmer Hilgendorf; and her sisters, Eileen Thomson and Evelyn Hanson. A private memorial service for Marge Mountin will be held at a later date. Gerald H. “Jerry’ Christian, 63 of Middletown, PA, formerly of Mayville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at home. He was born October 27, 1957, to Ewald and Mildred (Schrab) Christian in Beaver Dam. Jerry grew up on the family farm in Theresa. Jerry worked for Michels Corporation for 26 years as an equipment operator on the directional drilling crew. He later worked for Arney Brothers Inc. in Pennsylvania. Jerry loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, working in the garden or just sitting by a bonfire. He especially enjoyed his trips out west to Montana, Colorado and Wyoming. He also loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Christian of Pennsylvania; his children, Chad (Shawnna) Christian of Indiana and Karen (Chad) Vollmer of Hartford; grandson, Kaleb Christian of Indiana; his sister, Patsy (Butch) Laabs of Mayville; three brothers, Kenny (Jill) of Theresa, Dale (Joy) of Theresa and Scott (Sarah) of Watertown; sister-in-law, Bonnie Christian of Tomahawk. Jerry is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Mildred Christian; Amy Christian; brother, Bruce Christian; and his niece, Wendy Christian. There will be a Celebration of Life get together later this year to honor Jerry.

He didn't want to go, but a whisper in his ear said, “Come with me.” Jerry was born August 22,1954, to Edgar and Janice (Gremminger) Wondra in Beaver Dam. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1974. He continued his learning in the School of Life. He worked at Mayville Engineering Company for 40 years. He retired December 31, 2014. He was a machinist there. Jerry lived life to the fullest. He was a big sportsman; he loved hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. Jerry always owned his own boat since high school. It wasn't uncommon to get off work at take his boat and a couple of buddies and go fishing after work. Jerry was also a big Mopar guy. His vehicles were always Dodge, Jeep, or Ram. His first car was a 1968 Dodge Charger SE. He used it to pull his boat on his fishing excursions. Later, he would graduate to pickups and SUVs. Jerry was also a passionate Green Bay Packers fan. Jerry always watched or listened to the game on the radio. He would yell at the television or radio when there was a bad call or mistake on the Packers' part. It never mattered if they were having a bad season or great season. One of the highlights of his life was when he got to go to a game. He won tickets at work and took his son Jonathan. Sarah went all out for a Christmas present for her dad and bought him the Ultimate Packer package. He also went with a cousin to a preseason game. Jerry loved his family passionately. He went in search of a mermaid to share his journey. He placed an ad in Sheela Wood's Have a Friend Column in the back of one of the supermarket tabloids. In October 1980, Lisa Rose Hill answered his ad. They began a whirlwind correspondence. This led to them meeting for the first time on December 31, 1980. He flew to San Francisco, CA. When they laid eyes on each other, they knew this was it. He proposed on January 11,1981. He flew back to San Francisco in April 1981 to go to Barry Manilow concert at Cesar Tahoe at Stateline, NV, on April 11, 1981. After the concert, Jerry asked Lisa if she would like to get married. They went to Carson City, NV, to get their license. At 10 minutes to 5 in the morning on April 12, 1981, in a little chapel with just one witness and a preacher, Jerry and Lisa pledged their eternal love to one another and the two became one. Together, they would have and raise five children. He loved his wife and children deeply. He loved to travel with his family. He took them fishing, hunting, camping and boating. He shared the knowledge he acquired going to the School of Life freely with his beloved family. He always would help anyone who asked whether his dad needed something, help Lisa rebuild a shelf she bought at a garage sale, Patrick remodel his house, or instruct Andy in how to do wiring. His whole world was his family and he loved them all passionately and unconditionally. To celebrate his life and forever remember him, he left his beloved soulmate of 39 years, Lisa Rose (Hill) Wondra; five wonderful children, Andy of Mayville, Patrick of Mayville, Jonathan of Green Bay, Sarah (Josiah Brooks) Aull of Camp Pendleton, CA, and Ruth Ann Wondra of Mayville. He also had nine grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Kaleb, Zachary, Zander, Josiah, James, Rylie, and Olivia. He is also remember by his beloved mother, Janice Wondra of Mayville; his brothers, Donald (Christine) of Mayville, Ralph (Karin) of Mayville, Karen (John) Hill of Big Springs, NE; his brothers-in-law, Jim (Sarah) Hill of Atlanta, GA, Dan Hill of Placerville, CA; sisters-in-law, Theresa (Douglas) Fowler of Canyon Lake, TX, and Kathy (Jim) Lovik of Juneau. He is further remembered by many cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends. Shannon (Teska) Soper, 79, of West Bend found peace on January 17, 2021. Shannon was born on January 22, 1941, in Butler, to Harvey and Edwena Teska. She was united in marriage to Robert A. “Bob” Soper on June 3, 1995, in Allenton. Shannon was artist and chef. She worked at Mountin Piggly Wiggly in Mayville for 15 years. Shannon hosted cooking shows (Cooking with Shannon) and other events at the Pig. Her murals could be seen painted on the windows of the store in Mayville as well. Those Shannon leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 25 years, Bob; three daughters, Robyn (Pat), Lauri (Murray), and Nicole; six grandchildren, Rutger, Kayla, Kelli, Kourtney, Tatum, and Jesse; three great-grandchildren, Lotus, Nicky, and Elijah; two step-sons, Andrew and Nick (Michelle); and Nick’s daughter, Brianna; and Brianna’s son, Blayden and baby daughter, Mera. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Shannon was preceded in death by her son, Brett; and three grandsons, Nick, Bo and Ryan. Allan was born on June 13, 1943, to Helmuth and Paula (Koepsell) Keup in Reed City, MI. He was baptized on July 4, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reed City. Allan was confirmed in his Christian faith on April 14, 1957, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. After attending Concordia High School in Milwaukee for three years, Allan transferred to Horicon High School for one year before graduating in 1961. He then matriculated at Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. Allan’s post-graduate work at Concordia College included master’s degrees in education (1972) and church music (1983). Allan married the former Janet Erickson on June 15, 1968, in Oconto Falls. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Jennifer, Erika, and Paul. Raised and educated within The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Allan pursued a calling to serve LCMS parishes. He held positions as an elementary school teacher, organist, and choir director at St. Paul Lutheran in Manawa (1966-1972); St. John’s Lutheran in Grand Haven, MI (1972-1980); and Trinity Lutheran in Springfield, IL. (1980-1987). He taught hundreds of students throughout his tenure, including all three of his children. Additionally, Allan worked as an organist and handbell choir director at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL, from 1987 to 2011. Following his years as an educator, Allan was employed as a District Representative for Lutheran Brotherhood from 1987 to 1997. He specialized in insurance programs benefiting Lutheran churches and schools. Allan later worked as an independent financial services representative for more than 10 years. Allan was well known for his hobby of baking whole wheat bread on weekends, most of which he gave away to friends and parishioners. Over the years, his bread won several awards at the Illinois State Fair. From his early years, Allan was an avid sports enthusiast. The steady southpaw pitched for his high school and college baseball teams and later for amateur teams in Theresa and Big Falls. In addition, Allan enjoyed slow-pitch softball, bowling, and ping-pong. A loyal Green Bay Packers fan and shareholder, Allan also followed the Milwaukee Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. Allan will be greatly missed by his wife, Jan, of Mequon; three children; and three grandchildren. Daughter, Jennifer (Erik) Ankerberg and grandsons, Peter and David, live in Wheaton, IL; daughter, Erika Keup (Jason Jarzembowski) and grandson, Samuel, live in Germantown; and son Paul Allan Keup resides in St. Louis. Allan is also survived by sister-in-law, Suzanne (the late Gordon) Keup of Horicon, and his younger brother, Ronald (Karen) Keup of Saginaw, MI. Allan is further survived by several nieces and nephews, Jacqueline Schulz, Sheryl (Mike) Manion, Eric Keup, Joel (Natalie) Keup, Rachel (Jason) Ash, Aaron (Cara) Keup, and Nathan (Megan) Keup. Allan was preceded in death by his father, Helmuth (1987); his mother, Paula (1995); his older brother, Gordon (2013); and his brother-in-law, Rolf Erickson (1992). He was a 1961 graduate of Waupun High School. Marvin was married to Elda Groth on September 19, 1964, at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He owned and operated Marv’s Small Engines in Mayville and retired from the City of Mayville. After retirement, he enjoyed working for Town and Country Construction. Marvin was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. He enjoyed spending time outdoors especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He enjoyed watching races at Beaver Dam Raceway. He was a member of the Mayville Fireside Campers. Marvin especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Marvin is survived by his wife, Elda, of Mayville; his children, Michael Frey of Buxton, ND, Susan (Michael) Feller of Iron Ridge, and Darlene (Kevin) Kurtz of Horicon; his grandchildren, Ally Kurtz (Travis Davidson) and Mitchell Kurtz; other relatives and friends.
