Marjory Jane Scharf, 85, of Lomira, was welcomed to heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, after residing at Hope Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lomira. She was born on February 3, 1935, the daughter of Irving and Verna (Johnson) Muentner. The family lived and farmed—first in the Town of Lomira, and later in the Town of Byron, where they settled for many years. Marjory graduated from Lomira High School in 1952. She attended North Central College in Naperville, IL, then graduated from Dodge County Teachers College in Mayville in 1954. She taught school for four years in Eden and Byron. During her last year of teaching, she married John Carl Scharf on January 18, 1958, after he had returned from serving in the United States Army in Alaska. The couple began farming in the Town of Lomira, where they lived for more than 50 years. Marjory was an extremely dedicated housewife, mother and grandmother, and loved to give music lessons. In fact, Marjory’s lifelong passion was clearly glorifying her Lord by playing the piano and organ. She began playing the organ for church services and weddings at 12 years of age at Ebenezer Church in the Town of Lomira. After marriage, Marjory continued to play the organ, first for many years at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownsville, and then for roughly 20 years at Calvary Bible Church in Fond du Lac—where she practiced incessantly and played at nearly every service. She had passed up several opportunities to play professionally during her life, choosing instead to dedicate her time to her family and the congregations that she served. Marjory was known for her cooking and for hosting many family gatherings. She loved to care for family and friends—and found particular joy through the years in sharing her kindness with the family’s many dogs and cats. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and yardwork, and, to the surprise of many, became an enthusiastic sports fan in her later years. Those Marjory leaves behind to cherish her memory include two sons, Steven (Dawn) Scharf of Brownsville and Paul (Lynnette) Scharf of Columbus; four grandchildren, Kristin (Matt) Mose of Eldorado, Joshua (Jennifer) Scharf of Brownsville, Charis Scharf of Manitowoc and Bethany (Tim) Anderson of Menomonee Falls; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Noelle Scharf of Brownsville; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Muentner of Lomira; 15 nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Marjory was preceded in death by her husband, John; a young son, John Carl Scharf Jr.; brothers, Walter Muentner and Irving Muentner Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, John and Elaine Muentner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leonard and Mary Scharf; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Margaret Ungemach. A private memorial service for Marjory was held on Monday, Dec. 21. Pastor Ken Kramer officiated and burial took place at Ebenezer Cemetery. Camille S. Butler, 66, of Juneau, formerly of Mayville, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau due to complications from COVID-19. Camille was born the daughter of William and Marcella (Muehl) Butler on July 24, 1954, in Live Oak, FL. She enjoyed playing basketball and bowling. Camille also participated in the Special Olympics many times. She loved music, especially Elvis and Alan Jackson. Camille will be dearly missed. Debbie (Lackas) Weyer, 55, of Lomira, was called to heaven on December 12, 2020. Debbie died due to complications from brain aneurysm surgery. Deb was born May 20,1965, in Theresa to her parents Rita (Rahmer) and Eugene Lackas. Debbie was united in marrage to Joseph Weyer April 3, 2000. Her daughter and best friend is Chelsey Mastey (Joe). Debbie had two brothers, Allan (Kim) Lackas, Dean (Patti) Lackas and one sister, Sandra (Herman Jr.) Koenigs. She also had many nieces and nephews. Debbie graduated from Lomira High School. Debbie worked for many years at Exeter Machine Co. in Lomira. She was the plant manager. Debbie enjoyed camping, watching the Green Bay Packers and relaxing on weekends with family and friends. The thing she loved the most was spending time with her three precious grandchildren, Weston, Hailey and Mason. Debbie will be missed by many friends and family. Per family wishes, no service will be held. They will be having a celebration of life this summer in June.

Harriet Laverne Niehoff Muenchow, 97, a kind woman of strong faith, passed from this life due to age-related medical issues after contracting Covid. Harriet was born December 1, 1923, went home to her Lord the evening of December 11, 2020. She resided in Mayville during her early childhood but grew up in Horicon, graduating from Horicon High School in 1942, where she was selected Prom Queen. Harriet married Gordon Muenchow on June 5, 1948, following his return from WWII and resided at their Finch Street home in Horicon for over 60 years. She lived a full life with family and church at the center of it. Her world revolved happily around her children, Sandra, Judy, Dan, Tom and their spouses Fred Luck, Ward Gates, Sue Muenchow, and Mary Muenchow respectively, six grandchildren, Nicole, Andy, Darren, Amanda, Kirsten, and Max and their spouse/partner, and five great-grandchildren. She loved having family gatherings for special occasions and on holidays, making sure the jar of fermented Old Fashion mix was at the ready, in true Wisconsin tradition! You would find Harriet taking pleasure in tending her large vegetable and flower garden well past twilight from spring through summer evenings. Harriet’s faith guided and brought her comfort during difficult times when her husband, Gordon, daughter, Sandra Muenchow Luck, and daughter-in-law, Sue Geddes Muenchow passed away. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Audrey Niehoff Olsen and her husband Don; and Betty Ann Niehoff Berndt and her husband Dave; brother, Carl Niehoff Jr. and his wife, Marilee; brother-in-law, Dick Johnson; and parents, Hertha and Carl Niehoff Sr. Harriet is survived by her sister, Donna Jean (Dolly) Niehoff Johnson. She is fondly remembered by a very rambunctious clan of Niehoff nieces and nephews, along with Muenchow relatives, as the quiet and steady Aunt; as well as for her outrageously delicious Pistachio Torte that lives on in the kitchens of children and grandchildren. George Martin Isken, 86, of Cedar Grove, left this world on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Humble, kind, funny and generous – all who are blessed to have known him will remember him as a loving and peaceful man of the highest integrity. George was born on July 3, 1934, in Lomira, to Arthur and Adela (Fischer) Isken. He was a graduate of Lomira High School. Upon graduation he began working for Continental Can Company, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1986. A few years after beginning his working career he took a brief leave of absence to join the U.S. Army and rose to the rank of sergeant. He never spoke much of his experiences while fighting in the Korean War, but there were times when it appeared to weigh heavy on his mind. Upon returning home from the service, he married Lou Anna Zamzow from Brownsville. Together he and Lou Anna raised their six children until Lou Anna’s passing in 1998. His faith in God was of utmost importance to him and it was reflected in the way he lived his life. His life was a true reflection of the two great commandments as described by Jesus in Matthew 22:35-40. Loving God and loving his fellow man was priority in his life and seemed to come naturally to him. He had a kind soul that was accepting of people from all walks of life. He was a long-time member of the Worldwide Church of God/Living Word Church of God, where he served as an elder and a minister from 1999 to 2013. He was selfless in his passion for serving the church and was known for his compassionate service to the elderly and the youth. During his ministry, four of his children were blessed with the unique opportunity to be joined in marriage by their father. Growing up during the depression as the oldest son in a family with eight children, he, like all of his siblings, learned the value of hard work given the passing of their father at a very young age. Working and servicing others from dusk to dawn exemplified and was a hallmark of his life. Despite his hard work, gathering of physical possessions was of little importance to him. He spent much of his time and financial resources in service and volunteer work. He was an amazing example and exemplary father to all of his children and he spent much of his time involved in their lives. For many years he served as a coach for his church’s flag football team, traveling youth basketball team and the scoutmaster for his sons’ Boy Scout troop. Through his children’s teenage years, he also was an advisor for the church’s youth group. He was known for his incredible spirit and commitment and spent many weekends traveling around the country for various youth outings. He loved to spend an afternoon on the golf course with his kids or watch a Packer game with them while enjoying a malted beverage. Following his retirement, four of his sons also had the wonderful opportunity to work with him at each of their companies. George again found companionship and added happiness in his life when he wed Jill Matheus on September 19, 1999. George loved maintaining their beautiful hobby farm together. George is survived by his wife, Jill Isken of Cedar Grove; six children, Keith (Jean) Isken of Cedar Grove, Kevin (Sherry) Isken of Lake Barrington, IL, Michael (Sherry) Isken of Cedar Grove, Susie (Lyle) Huhn of Sheboygan, Daryl (Andi) Isken of Forney, TX, Matthew (Jodi) Isken of Cedar Grove; special nephew Chad (Grethe) Isken; fourteen grandchildren, Eric, Patrick, Amanda (Austin), Alex, Georgiana, Rylee, Jada, Dalton, and Breanna Isken. Delores M. Barker, 80, a lifelong resident of Kekoskee, died on December 9, 2020, at Remembrance Home in Beaver Dam. She was born on February 16, 1940, in Kekoskee, to Gilbert and Marie (Noll) Wild. She attended Kekoskee State Graded School and graduated from Mayville High School with the class of 1958. On April 4, 1964, she married Jerald Barker at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville. Delores was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church in Mayville. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. The joy of her life was her family. She treasured family gatherings and especially enjoyed each moment spent with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, baker, and was known as the family record keeper. She was proud of her hometown, Kekoskee, and co-edited a book in honor of its sesquicentennial. O’Brien, 93, formerly of Mayville, passed away on December 7, 2020, at Hope Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lomira, due to complications from COVID-19. Bias was born on September 17, 1927, in Laona, to Robert and Jewel (Howard) O’Brien (deceased.) At the age of 17, Bias joined the Navy in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1948. During his time enlisted, he participated in the first nuclear bomb test at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. After leaving the Navy, he apprenticed as an electrician and received his journeyman’s license, retiring at age 62. He was married on November 17, 1949, to his life-long partner of 71 years, Margaret A. Bath. Bias loved hunting, fishing, bowling, and his martinis. Talking about his adventures in the Navy was important to him in his later years. He truly loved that he was able to go to Washington D.C. on a Badger Honor Flight in May of 2012 chaperoned by one of his daughters, Janice (O’Brien) Maum. With Margaret by his side, he attended many USS Burleson Navy ship reunions. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed his travel league. He was passionate about hunting and fishing as well, pleased that he was fortunate to share and pass this love to his children and grandchildren. Bias was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margaret (Marge) O’Brien; his children, JoAnn Callis, Kathy (Fred) Dufer, Janice (Donald) Maum, Betty (Dan) Cousins, Judith (Stewart) Caisman, Michael (Pam) O’Brien, and Linda (Steve) Keller; his 14 grandchildren, Michelle, Brian, Joshua, Katrina, Cynthia, Francis, Christina, Ronnie, Jenifer, Ben, Zachary, Rachel, Mathew, and Noah; his 10 great-grandchildren, Keith, Samantha, Mathew, DeShawn, LaQuan, Marquez, James-Owen, Alex, Martina, and Lyla; and four great-great grandchildren. Arthur W. Mueller Jr., 83, of Mayville entered the kingdom of heaven on December 8, 2020, at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Mayville. His loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis was at his side. Arthur was born the son of Arthur and Leona (Mueller) on April 8, 1937, in LeRoy. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1955. On October 5, 1957, Arthur married the love his life, Phyllis Berg, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mayville. Arthur worked on the family farm in the Town of LeRoy while growing up. After graduating from high school, he was employed at Mayville Metal Products, retiring in 1999 as the vice-president of sales. Even while working a full-time job, Arthur helped run the family farm until the late 1990s. Arthur was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mayville. He would regularly attend services as well as bible classes. He served on both the board of elders and church council for many years. Arthur loved the outdoors. He enjoyed going duck and deer hunting with his children and grandchildren. He always made it a point to attend as many of his grandchildren’s sporting events, plays, musicals, or other activities as possible. He also served as a supervisor on the LeRoy Town Board. Arthur is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Mayville; his three sons, Boyd (Brenda) Mueller of Whitehall, MI; Terry (Elizabeth) Mueller of Dousman; Bradley (Ann) Mueller of Mayville; six grandchildren, Stephen Mueller, Kathryn (Jamie) Princo, Abbie Mueller (Sean), Lauren Mueller (Dorian), Kyle Mueller, and Brandon (Megan) Mueller; three siblings, William (Sharon) Mueller, Arnie (Audrey) Mueller, and Marlene (Donald) Lechner; one sister-in-law, Wanda Richter; two brothers-in-law, David Krueger and Lloyd Derge; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rose Theresa (Belligan) Lohaus, 101, passed away quietly at the Hope Nursing Home in Lomira, on November 30, 2020. She was born November 10, 1919, to Florian Sr. and Katherine (Sorgent) Belligan in Mayville. Rose was a lifetime resident of Mayville, and member of St. Mary’s church. She was married September 25, 1947, to Fred “Bud” Lohaus Jr. Rose is survived by her three brothers, John (Winona) Belligan, Joseph (Ceil) Belligan, and Michael (Diana) Neirink; many beloved cousins, nephews, nieces, and godchildren.
