Alex O. Kummerow


Alex O. Kummerow, 83, of Mayville, formerly of Kekoskee passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Mayville. Alex was born the son of Hugo and Lavina (Brummond) Kummerow on August 19, 1937, in Williamstown. He attended Mayville High School and enjoyed playing hockey in Kekoskee. Alex then went on to serve his country in the US Army from 1960 to 1962 then continued on in the National Guard until 1965. He was united in marriage to LaVonne Kahlhamer on May 8, 1965, at St. Peter’s in Kekoskee. Alex had worked for TAB Products for 35 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Kekoskee. In his spare time, Alex enjoyed watching sports especially the Packers, Brewers, and the Chicago Blackhawks. Alex is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Mayville; his children, Brenda (John) Meyer of Wausau, Linda (Steve) Filipiak of Stillwater, MN, and Paul (Sandy) Kummerow of Horicon; his grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Straseske, Nathan Straseske, Chris Meyer, Zac Filipiak, Payton Filipiak, Sidney Filipiak, and Logan Kummerow; one great-granddaughter, Adelaide Straseske. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hilbert (Martha) Kummerow; and sisters, Arlene (Leslie) Feller and Ruth (Elmer) Schultz. Due to the current health restrictions, a public visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 30, from 12 to 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Kekoskee followed by a private family funeral service with the Rev. William Carter officiating. Burial will take place at Kekoskee Cemetery. The family asked that everyone wear a mask and to please respect social distancing guidelines. Visitation:  Thursday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Location: St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge Daniel C. “Boone” Keller, 68, of Iron Ridge passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020. Daniel was born the son of William and Mildred (Neimeyer) Keller Sr. on September 29, 1952, in Beaver Dam. He was a 1970 graduate of Mayville High School. Boone was married to Barb Kanas on October 25, 1975, in Iron Ridge. He was employed with Mayville Limestone Inc. for 48 years. Boone was a member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge. Boone enjoyed woodworking, farming, and gardening. He was an avid Packers fan. Boone loved to spend time at his cabin. He loved to help others and was very loving and loyal to his family and friends. Susan “Suzie” Geraldine Martin


December 31, 1946 – October 17, 2020 Susan “Suzie” Martin, 73, of Oshkosh (formerly of Neosho) passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2020. She was born on December 31, 1946, in the Town of Ashippun to Alphonse and Barbara R. (Schuster) Martin. She was the 12th of 17 children. She was a graduate of Lebanon Consolidated Grade School and Watertown High School. Suzie married Hilbert Allen Grulke Jr. on April 20, 1968, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashippun. Prior to retirement, she was employed at John Deere in Horicon. Suzie enjoyed conversation, gambling, puzzlemaking, cooking, reading, and traveling with her special friend Don Marsh. She had a big heart and always cared and shared with others. She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Ann Grulke; and son, Lance Michael (Laura) Grulke. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, James Martin and Larry (Amy) Martin and step-great-grandchildren, Kyler Martin and Kayla, Melissa, Ashlyn and Paul Martin. She is also survived by siblings, Shirley Zwieg, Betty (Roger) Tremaine, Edward Martin, Barbara (James) Kuehl, Christine Martin, James (Jacky) Martin, Steve (Marge) Martin; and step-brother, Bob Bergman, as well as sisters-in-law, Diane Martin and Marian Martin and brother-in-law, Scott Tremaine. Suzie was preceded in death by her parents, Hilbert Grulke Jr.; and in-laws, Hilbert G. and Weida Grulke; stepfather, Leonard Bergman; sisters, Joan Wittnebel, Mary Komp, Rita Jungbluth, and Ginny Tremaine and brothers, Ralph, Dick, Doug, Tom, and Michael Martin and brothers-in-law, Vilas Wittnebel, Joseph Jungbluth, Leo Komp, Martin Zwieg; and sister-in-law, Mae Martin. Special thank you to Heritage Court Apartments of Oshkosh where she developed many caring and loving friendships. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Visitation:  Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.  Service:  Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1:30 p.m.  Location:  Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford Patricia Ann Grissman (Hoffman), 80, of Hartford, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2020. Pat was born May 26, 1940, in Hartford to Evelyn (Weginger) and Mathias Hoffman. She was united in marriage to husband Jon “Jack” Grissman in 1959. Pat was later united with her companion of many years, Roger Kuehl. Pat loved spending time outdoors doing a variety of activities including yard work, gardening, hunting, and spending time up north at her cabin in which she and Jack built together. While at her cabin, she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds feed as she soaked up the sun any chance she got. Her timeless energy and endless love for her family surpasses all known. She will be forever remembered by her spunky attitude and witty ways. Pat will remain in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing her. She would do anything for anyone at any given time, a heart of gold that truly blessed all of those who knew her. She will always be remembered and missed as such a unique and beautiful soul, one of God’s finest. Pat is survived by her children, Mark (Janice), Todd (Susan); her grandchildren, Rebecca (Brian), Tracy (Nathaniel “Nath”), Joshua, Sara (Eric), Krystal (Michael), and her great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Robbie, Hannah, Gabriel, Bradon, Kayla, Gisella and Blair. She is further survived by many beloved family members including her father, Mathias; her siblings, Matt Jr., Johnny (Beve), Beverly, Jerry (Taddy); sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Norita, as well as other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She has entered into Eternal Life where she is joined by her mother, Evelyn; her brothers, Anthony “Tony” and Robert “Bobby”; her sister-in-law, Carole; her brother-in-law, Chet, as well as her late husband Jon “Jack”; her late companion Roger; and her great-grandchildren, Jessica, Nicole, and David. Family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford, from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Funeral services for Pat will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St. Hartford, WI 53027) with Rev. Anton S. Westimayer


Anton S. Westimayer, 97, of Horicon, passed away October 10, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side. Tony was born on August 26, 1923, to Anton and Anna Repp Westimayer in Horicon. He attended Horicon High School where he was active and excelled in basketball, football, baseball, and track. Tony was awarded an Athletic Scholarship to attend Carroll College in Waukesha. He was an active and long-time member of Saint Malachy’s/Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon. Tony proudly served his Country as a Marine from 1942 to 1946. Upon his return, he completed his college degree. Tony accepted a position with Monarch Range in Beaver Dam, where he met the love of his life Helen Marthaler. Tony and Helen were blessed with 69 years of marriage. He was the loving husband and father of 10 children. In 1950, Tony took a position at John Deere Horicon Works until he retired in 1982, with 32 years of service. Family was always most important to Tony and he passed that onto his children and their families. Tony looked forward to visits from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hearing the stories about all the things that were new in their lives. Other things he enjoyed were fishing, taking his family to the annual northern Wisconsin vacation spot in Crandon (with U-Haul in tow), occasional trips to visit relatives on the west coast, and his retirement job of driving John Deere employees to their destinations. Many of these employees requested Tony as they enjoyed his outgoing personality and wonderful conversations. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Westimayer; in-laws, Erwin and Cynthia Marthaler; brother-in-law, Floyd (Flip) Marthaler; nephew, Mark Marthaler; and infant granddaughter, Christian. The family would like to thank Maria, our guardian angel, for her wonderful care and loving support given to our father, and making his last wish to remain in his home with family until God called him to his side. Norma Virginia Walther

Norma Virginia Walther


Family Graveside Service:  Saturday, Oct. 23   Location:  St. Petri Cemetery in the Township of Lomira Norma Virginia (Lau) Walther, 95, of Eau Claire passed away on May 15, 2020. Norma was born on July 5, 1924, on the family farm in Lomira Township, just north of Mayville, the daughter of Ferdinand and Lucilia (Heldt) Lau. She grew up on the family farm and was a 1941 graduate of Mayville High School. After high school she worked as a telephone operator for Wisconsin Bell. On September 6, 1947, she married Robert Walther at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lomira Township. They then lived in Mayville for the next 62 years. After Bob’s passing in 2009 she remained in Mayville until 2011 when she moved to a retirement home and later to an assisted living facility in Eau Claire to be near her son. She remained there until her passing. After marriage, Norma became a homemaker to raise her family. Son Tom was born in August, 1948 and Dick was born in March, 1951. In the late 1950’s Norma returned to work as a telephone operator and remained with Wisconsin Bell until 1967 when the Mayville exchange became the very last exchange in Wisconsin to change over to dial telephones. After that Norma went to work for Old Fashioned Cheese in the company cheese store until her retirement. Norma was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mayville, most notably sewing with the quilting circle for 25 years. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Mayville Senior Center. Norma was also an avid bowler hitting her only 600 series at the state tournament in Madison in 1983. Norma also enjoyed fishing, especially during the 15 years she and Bob maintained a camper alongside Buffalo Lake at Montello. Also after retirement she enjoyed traveling with Bob to events such as the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl, to Cancun and in 1994 a trip to Europe in commeration of the D-Day invasion. Norma is survived by sons, Thomas Walther of Eau Claire and Richard (Patty) Walther of Pompano Beach, FL; grandchildren, ReNee (Marc) Hanson of Anoka, MN; Brian (Christina) Walther of Chippewa Falls; Jess (Pam) Walther of Hartland; Karlee Walther of Boston, MA, Kasey Walther of New York, NY and honorary granddaughter Jasmine of Mayville. Norma is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by brother-in-law, Ervin Walther of Princeton, and sister-in-law Betty Lau-Steger of Fond du Lac, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Robert, her husband of 62 years; her parents, Ferdinand and Lucilia Lau; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Ruben (Hortensia) Lau, Vernon Lau, Harvey (Nora) Lau, Palmer (Eleanor) Lau, Lorinda (Vilas) Adelmeyer, Bernice (Harvey) Lindert. Additionally she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ervin (Edna) Walther Sr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen (Joseph) Gleissner, Lorraine (Donald) Heintz, Margaret (Waldemar) Rupnow, Ardis Walther and daughter-in-law LaVon Walther. A family graveside service will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23, at St. Petri Cemetery in the Township of Lomira.
