Nellie was born the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Eastling) Straveler on December 1, 1931, in Brantwood. On November 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to her one and only love George C. Thurk, Sr. in Oshkosh. Together they built their home and farm in the Town of LeRoy where they raised their two children. Besides farming, Nellie worked numerous jobs. Over the years, she worked at a canning factory in Brownsville, National Rivets in Waupun, and Grande Cheese. She also did home care for numerous people and her last job was a custodian worker for the town of LeRoy. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville. In her spare time, Nellie enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, canning, and drinking a good beer along with spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going on casual car rides, looking at nature and wildlife and stopping at the casino. She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Larry) Kraemer of Theresa; her grandchildren, Richard Kraemer, Joan (Jacob) Breitkreutz, Jennifer (Christopher) Davison, George (Kari) Kraemer, Keith Kraemer, and Penny Kraemer; her 10 great-grandchildren, Jacob (Amanda) Kraemer, Tristan Breitkreutz, Brandon Breitkreutz, Skyler White, Justin Davison, Derek Davison, Kayla Kraemer, George Kraemer, Dominick Kraemer, and Jonathan Kraemer; great-great-grandchildren, Parker Giese and Izabella Kraemer; her sister, Josephine Schutt of Vestal, NY. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Sr.; her son, George, Jr.; her sisters, Catherine Weisinger and Rosemary Cooley; her five brothers, Joseph, Norman, Hubert, Ernest, and Eugene Straveler. A visitation for Nellie took place on Friday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville with a private family funeral service (due to current health restrictions) followed at 1 p.m. with Rev. Visitation:  Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Location:  St. Paul's Lutheran church in Brownsville Dennis Weigand, 74, of Theresa was called home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Dennis was born on February 23, 1946, in Fond du Lac to Wilbert and Almira Weigand (Schaumberg). He was united in marriage to Ardis Gerken on June 22, 1969, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing, MN. Dennis was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran (Town of Lomira). He graduated from Luther Prep in Watertown and attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. Dennis worked at Mayville Metal Products in Mayville, Miller Inc. in St. Nazianz, and Perlick Corporation in Milwaukee. He worked in sales, estimating, as a project engineer, and other positions. Dennis served his Lord at St. Paul’s Lutheran (Town of Lomira) and at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Brownsville. He served as Sunday School teacher, Lutheran Pioneer leader, on the church council, choir, usher, Bible study leader, and wherever he was needed. He also served at Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac, including time on the executive board. Dennis found great joy in spending time with his family. He enjoyed church activities, hiking, gardening, woodworking, fishing, and road trips. Those Dennis leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Ardis; three children, Joel (Erin) Weigand and their children, Ethan and Ashley, Keith (Andi) Weigand and their children, Sara and Ryan, Rachel (Ty) Mittelstaedt. He is further survived by his brother, Harvey (Karen) Weigand; four sisters-in-law, Vernice Weigand, Judy Weigand, Sandi Meyer, and Bev (Mike) Watson; and brother-in-law, Ron (Jane) Gerken; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by four brothers, Philip (Deanna) Weigand, Lee (Lillian) Weigand, Rev. Cleone Weigand, and John Weigand. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge Kenneth E, Schulz, 81, of Iron Ridge passed away peacefully at the Veterans Hospital in Madison on September 7, 2020, with family at his side. Ken was born on March 26, 1939, at his home near Iron Ridge, to Lester and Erna (Schaefer) Schulz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where he was a lifetime member. He attended Woodland Road Grade School and St. Matthew’s Grade School and graduated from Hustisford High School. On April 23, 1960, he married LaVerne (Gunst) Schulz at Trinity Lutheran Church at Huilsburg. Ken worked at a construction job after graduation until he entered the Army and spent time at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and then Fort Bliss at El Paso, TX. He enjoyed telling people that they could walk across the border into Mexico with no questions asked. After that he returned home. His service continued with the Army Reserves. His jobs included hauling cattle, driving milk truck and working on the home dairy farm. Later he and LaVerne purchased the farm which now has been in the family for 105 years and now owned by Douglas and Rebecca. Later in life Ken worked at the Reisetter Feed Service, Mayville Canning Factory and then for Stoppleworth Construction Company. Ken also kept busy with many community things. Ken served his church holding various positions including President during which time he chaired the committee while the school Gym/Fellowship Hall. He was a member of the Iron Ridge Fire Department since 1960 and was now an Honorary Fireman. One of his favorite things to do at the Iron Ridge Picnic was grilling brats with Joe and Joyce Dorn. He was a charter member of the Iron Ridge Lions Club. He was on the Hubbard Town Board for 36 years having chaired the town for 35 years. He also headed up the TRIP Committee as a representative of the Town of Hubbard. He was a member of the Hustisford American Legion serving as commander for a number of years. He was a member of the Friends of the Woodland Road School, helping with the restoration of the school and serving as president for a number of years. Ken coached St. Matthew’s boys basketball for 10 years. He also was a Certified WIAA Referee. He was always willing to help with his children’s 4-H projects as well as helping both the 4-H Club and the Mother Hubbards Homemakers building various floats for the hometown parades. In their later years, Ken and LaVerne enjoyed taking bus trips to see various places. Ken is survived by his wife, LaVerne; a daughter, Eileen (Randy) Wassermann and a son, Douglas (Rebecca) Schulz; granddaughters, Allison (Liam) Williams, Abigail and Emily Schulz, Megan and Samantha Wassermann. He is further survived by his sister, Karen (Goar) Kahlhamer; sisters-in-law, LaVern Schulz, Dorothy Dorst and Elaine (Claude) Rex. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Walter and Adeline Gunst; his son, David; his sister, Ethel and her husband Delmer Rahjes; and his brother, Glen Schulz. Nitschke, 91, of Mayville, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at the Crossroads Care Center in Mayville. Marge Elizabeth was born the daughter of Lorenz and Kathryn (Zinn) Huttner on March 12, 1929, in Beaver Dam. On April 10, 1950, Marge was united in marriage with Frank Nitschke Jr. in Stayton, OR. She was employed by the West Bend Company and served as Chief Union Steward for many years. She retired from the Taycheedah Prison as a kitchen supervisor. Marge served on the Moraine Park Technical College District Board for three years and served as an Alderman for the City of Mayville for four years. Marge was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville. She enjoyed traveling and gambling with her friend Ed Bartsch. Marge loved flowers, the Packers, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her son, Mike and his wife, Lora of Shawano, three grandchildren, the joy of her life: Scott and Jill of Campbellsport, Randy and Kassi of North Fond du Lac and Christina and Shawn Tischer of Tigerton, her great-grandchildren, Tate, Easton, Addelyn and Millie; and one sister, Caroline (Al) Buss of Beaver Dam. Marge is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank Jr. in 1993; daughter, Charon; sisters, Pauline (Joseph) Sawyer, Kathryn (Carl) Kanas, Anna Huttner; one brother, Henry (Helen) Huttner and her in-laws, Gilbert and Joan Nitschke. Outdoor Gathering:  Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.  Location:  St. Matthew Cemetery in Iron Ridge Earl Schellpfeffer, 93, of Iron Ridge, passed away September 4, 2020, at Eagles Wings Assisted Living in Beaver Dam. Earl was born October 1, 1926, to Herbert and Lydia (Koepsell) Schellpfeffer of Mayville. He was united in marriage to Darlene Moldenhauer September 22, 1956, at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge. They lived and farmed in the Township of Herman. In 1963 they sold the farm and moved to Iron Ridge. Earl took a job at Mayville Metal until retirement. On the weekends he enjoyed bartending at Zivko’s Chandelier Ballroom. Earl was a faithful member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church. Earl was a lifelong member of the Iron Ridge Fire Department. He always looked forward to running the hamburger stand at the yearly picnics. Earl also enjoyed bowling in his younger years, gardening, making homemade wine, playing sheepshead and spending time with the grandchildren. He enjoyed his 93 years of life and never wasted a minute. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Darlene; his children, Debby (Jack) Tessmann of Wichita, KS, Todd (Brenda) Schellpfeffer of Theresa, Tammy Schellpfeffer of Iron Ridge, Jill (Tim) Weisensel of Juneau; also 16 grandchildren, Renee, Trisha, Ashley, Christa, Staci, Tiffany, Brett, Tanya, Aaron, Sierra, Emily, Brennan, Breanna, Chaunston, Lyndon and Madalayne and 22 great-grandchildren and his brother, Marvin (Lorraine) Schellpfeffer. In his spare time Harold loved playing cards, gardening, and attending festivals. He was a avid Packer fan and enjoyed polka dancing. Harold also loved talking about his farming days. Glenn Herbert Qualmann was born on September 18, 1933, on the family farm in Horicon to Paul and Hilda (Ewert) Qualmann. He graduated from Mayville High School. On April 30, 1955, he was united in marriage with Donna Scherger. Glenn worked at Monarch Range, Kirsh Foundry, Flynn Motors, and United Auto Parts, fully retiring in 2016. He was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He spent time at his cottage in Ladysmith, and had many trips to South Padre and Mexico. Glenn loved to drive the countryside and bar hop. Glenn is survived by his daughters, Sue (Bud) Benter, Laurie Schroeder (Dave Gilbertson), and Nancy (Steve) Hermann, all of Beaver Dam; special friend, Arlene Hagen of Iron Ridge; brothers, Paul Qualmann of Fond du Lac and Jim (Diane) Qualmann of Horicon; grandchildren, Kristin, April, Lindsey, Ben, Kelly, and Kari; great-grandchildren, Angelique, Isaac, Ian, Zander, Ellie, Ayden, Jaelynn, and Harper; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Willard) Haslow of Mayville and Barbara Dudec of Hartford; other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Helen was born on December 6, 1924, in Mayville, a daughter of Edwin and Erna (Meyer) Collien. She grew up in Mayville, attending St. Mary’s Catholic School until eighth grade. On September 2, 1944, she married Victor Hinkes Sr. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mayville. He was deceased on June 30, 1978. On April 2, 1983 she married Rolland Beck at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy. Rolland passed away on December 9, 2006. Helen and Rolland enjoyed travel and their cottage on Lake Winnebago where family and friends always felt welcome. In later years, Helen loved going to the casino, but her favorite times were when her brothers and sisters celebrated their birthdays. It meant going out to lunch and an afternoon of playing Left/Right/ Center. She loved her eight years at Hope Senior Living, especially her afternoons of sheepshead and evenings of any kind of game. A special Thank You to Patti Wells, who was Helen’s angel, and the many other great caregivers at Hope. Helen is survived by her two children, Carol (Sylvester) Gassner and Victor (Mary) Hinkes Jr.; seven step-children, Mary (Victor) Hinkes Jr., Diane Rosenberg, Sue (Mark) Miller, Luann (Steve) Bogenschneider, Patty Beck, Kenny (Bonnie) Beck, and Rob (Lynn) Beck; brothers, Raymond (Joann) Collien and Melvin “Cookie” Collien; sister, Delores Neumeyer; and sister-in-law, Lucille Collien. She is the grandmother of Annette (Steve Micklas) Hechimovich, Daniel (Susan) Gassner, Connie (Tony) Quinn, Kim (Randy) Smith, Corey (Erica) Hinkes and 11 step-grandchildren. She had eight great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
