   Michael D. Braun, 64, of Beaver Dam passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.   Michael was born on February 4, 1960, in Beaver Dam to Dwayne and Carol (Rosenmeier) Braun.   He was employed with Mayville Tire Co. for 30 years until his retirement.Mike was married to Deborah Diels on July 30, 1988, in Beaver Dam.   Mike enjoyed being in the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, taking outdoor trips, or camping. He enjoyed watching racing especially Indy Car. Mike had a great sense of humor with a bit of sarcasm. He truly put family ahead of everything else. He loved his grandkids and being a grandpa was the job he loved best.   Mike is survived by his wife, Debbie, of Beaver Dam; his children, Ryan Braun (Amy Hoppenjan) of Neenah, JoAnne (Ryan) Callies of Beaver Dam and Brad (Erica) Howland of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Audrey, Braxton, Kasyn, Drake, Hunter, and Lydia; his mother, Carol Braun of Beaver Dam; siblings, Steve (Lisa) Braun of Indianapolis, IN, Susie Braun of Bloomington, IN, and Gary (Dana) Braun of Beaver Dam; brother-in-law, Jim (Bonnie) Diels of Beaver Dam; a special aunt, Henrietta Drake; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his father, Dwayne; a sister in infancy, Jennifer; and his grandparents.   A memorial gathering was held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 3 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m.   Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is serving the family. Catherine Valeria Steger


Catherine Valeria Steger (nee Deanovich) passed away at her home on May 30, 2024, with family present. She was born in Mayville on May 20, 1924. Her parents were John and Mary (Levar) Dejanovich. When she was a young adult, she worked at Ben Franklin in Mayville. She married the love of her life, Vernon Steger, on May 25, 1946. She then moved to live with him on the Steger homestead in Theresa and remained there until her passing. She was an excellent cook. She was a hard worker, doing whatever she could to do the farmwork, housekeeping, and other chores. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic church. In later years, she and Vern enjoyed traveling with friends on various bus and train tours throughout the country. She also loved watching the Green Bay Packers, visiting the Amish, and playing cards. She loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Steger; her sons and daughters-in-law, Rick (Diane) Steger and Dave (Chris) Steger; her grandchildren, Monica Steger, Kari (Adam) Wik, Dan (Amanda) Steger, Andrea (Cody) Geschke, and Nick (Kendra Neuhauser) Steger; her great-grandchildren, Zack Wik, Emily, Hailey, and Natalie Steger, Amber Gable, and Bennett Geschke. Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; her in-laws, John and Viola Steger; siblings and in-laws, Anna (Matt) Persha, Frank (Frances) Dejanovich, Mary (Frank) Heider, Peter Dejanovich, Paul (Bernice) Deanovich, Michael (Ione) Deanovich, and Steven (Evelyn) Deanovich; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl (Clara, then Jackie) Steger, and Elmer (Jeanette) Steger; and many other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Ed Kornath presiding. A visitation took place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Interment took place at St. Theresa Memorial Gardens in Theresa. Michael James Simon

Michael James Simon


Michael “Mike” James Simon passed away at his home on Sunday, June 2, 2024. He was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend on April 22, 1974, to Lester and Shirley (nee Sauer) Simon. He graduated from WSVH in Janesville in 1995. Mike might have been visually impaired and mentally challenged, but had a very active life. He was one of the first students to attend the Early Childhood Class at Campbellsport Elementary School. He attended the Wisconsin School for the Visually Handicapped (WSVH) in Janesville from 1980-1995. While at school, he was a member of the 4-H Clubs in Janesville and Campbellsport. He also enjoyed the Summer Enrichment Programs activities during the summer in Campbellsport. Under the instruction of Sr. Ruth Ann of Fond du Lac, he received his First Communion and Confirmation at St. Matthew’s Church, where he was a member and attended Mass regularly. He attended the ARC of Fond du Lac for many years until he started working at Brooks Ind. full-time. He worked at Brooks Ind. since 1989 until the present time. Mike had the best of both worlds. He was in the activity room and got to work out on the work floor whenever there was a job for him to do. During the summer, Mike went horseback riding at Reins Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program in Sheboygan County from 1985 to the present. His favorite part was when he got to “Trot.” He also attended Badger Camp for a few years, but his favorite place to go in the summer was the WI Lions Camp at Rosholt, first as a kid camper starting in 1980 and then he got to go back to the Adult Camp in 1998 with a sighted guide (mom) until the present. But Mike’s favorite all year-round activities were with his friends at Champions. He did bowling, bocce ball, baseball, putt putt golf, track and field, birthday bingo, dancing, Bible Study, and Guy’s Night Out, just to mention a few. Mike enjoyed attending and listening to the Brewers, Timber Rattlers, Dock Spiders, and nephew, Jack’s, baseball games “Charge,” and Packers games. Mike also took walks and bike rides with mom around town in the evenings. Also he took walks on the beach and sat around the campfire visiting with the camp hosts at Mauthe Lake. Mike was never without his Match Box Car. Mike is survived by his mom and dad, Shirley and Lester; brothers, Thomas (Stacy) and Jeffrey (Emilee); sister, Lisa (Brian) Arneson; nieces and nephews, Abigail, Hunter, Aiden, Joel, Jack, Sicily, Lorelai, and Adaline; also uncles and aunts, Dan and Sue Sauer, James Simon, Dale and Shelly Simon, Ken and Lauri Simon, Paul and Jane Simon, and Steve and Ronda Simon; and many cousins, and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Jessica Simon Abnet; grandparents, Florence and Linus Simon, Clarence and Martha Sauer; uncle, Fr. John Simon; and aunt, Marie, and uncle, David Sauer. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, from 1 p.m. until the time of Mass at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St., Campbellsport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Sunday, June 9, at 4 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Jones will officiate, and burial will be in St. Kilian Cemetery, St. Kilian. Bernice E. Klink

Bernice E. Klink


Bernice E. Klink, age 88, of Horicon, died on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Marvin's Manor in Horicon. Bernice was born on October 28, 1935, in the Town of Rubicon to Fred and Linda (Nagel) Hein. On May 14, 1955, she was united in marriage to Roger Klink at St. Matthew's in Neosho. She was a member of St. Mary's in Woodland for many years before her move to Horicon, where was currently a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Bernice enjoyed family get togethers, cooking and making meals for the family, gardening, and flowers. She also spent time at their cottage on Lower Post Lake with both family and friends, where many memories were made. Bernice loved to travel and took many bus tours, especially enjoying her 15-day tour to Alaska. With thanks to her niece, Barbara Derge, Bernice took many trips to visit the Amish country in Wisconsin and visited with several families that became good friends. She always enjoyed their bakery and produce, making sure she brought home enough to share with everyone. Family was the most important part of everyday life for Bernice, and she relished caring for them. Bernice is survived by her children, Laura (Bruce) Horst of Hartford, Carrie (Jeff) Nehls of Iron Ridge, and Dan (Paula) Klink of Iron Ridge; five grandchildren, Amy (James) Sands, Ryan Horst, Joshua (Jessica Witkowski) Mueller, Julia Mueller, and Katelynn Klink; five great-grandchildren, Payson Horst, Callen Horst, Avery Horst, Molly Mueller, and Myla Mueller; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Mary; brothers and sisters-in-law, LaJune (Marget Jane) Hein and Gilbert (Annabelle) Hein. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon with the Rev. Fr. Justin Lopina presiding. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at St. Bartholomew’s Cemetery in Rubicon. Nancy J. Nolte-Ermer, 80, of Campbellsport, formerly of Fillmore, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Serenity Villa in Campbellsport, with her family at her side. Nancy Nolte entered the world on November 10, 1943, in Milwaukee, born to her parents, the late Harry and Mary Nolte. Her heart was full of love for her family, especially her grandchildren. She took pleasure in her garden’s blooms and the company of birds on her travels. A master in the kitchen, Nancy was renowned for her signature dish: a succulent round steak with fluffy mashed potatoes, all topped with her signature, rich homemade gravy. She will be deeply missed by her family and everyone who knew her. Those Nancy leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, Russell (Wendy) Ermer, Daniel (Amy) Ermer, Lee (Kaye) Ermer, and Lisa Ermer; her grandchildren, Joshua (Kayla) Ermer, Brandon (Candice) Ermer, Dylan Ermer (Olivia Strutz), Daniel Jr. “DJ” (Paige) Ermer, Jacob (Montana) Ermer, Carlin Ermer, Jed Ermer, Tesa Ermer, Zachary Steinhaus, and Lia Steinhaus; great-grandchildren, Levi, Reed, Kenadee, Addisyn, Waylon, Tinleigh, Clyde, Eleanore, Aubree, Madelyn, Walker, and Watson; her brother, Lanier (Gail) Nolte; and former husband, Harold “Rocky” Ermer; other relatives and friends. Nathan “Nate” Vincent Weber


   Nathan “Nate” Vincent Weber, 39, of Lomira, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 26, 2024.   He was born August 29, 1984, in Kenosha to Vincent Weber and Debra (Lackershire) Cuggino.   Nathan graduated from Slinger High School in 2003. For the past 17 years, he drove semi for various local trucking companies.   Nathan had an immense passion for racing starting at a young age racing stock car, ice-oval snowmobiles, and most recently remote-controlled cars, which gave him the opportunity to include his three daughters with the remote-controlled dirt oval racing. In addition to racing, he was very fond of his semis; most that knew Nathan, the more lights he could add to his truck, the happier it made him. Although Nathan was fond of his racing, his semi and other past time activities, he treasured the most, being a father to his daughters.   Survivors include his three daughters, Dakoda (special friend, Hunter), Bristol, and Sydney; his children’s mom, Trisha Nighbor of Lomira; his father, Vincent (Ronda) Weber of Lomira; his mother, Debbie (John) Cuggino of Kingsford, MI; his sister and brothers, Sabrina Weber (special friend, David) of Wrenshall, MN, Michael (Krystal) Weber of Lomira, and Daniel (Tracy) Weber of Kingsford, MI; his paternal grandmother, Rita Weber of Mount Calvary; and his maternal grandmother, Karen Lackershire of New Holstein. Nathan is further survived by his special friend, Carolyn Puestow; numerous uncles; aunts; nieces; nephews; cousins; great-nieces; other relatives; and many friends.   Preceding him in death were his paternal grandfathers, LeRoy Weber and Joseph LePine Sr.; his maternal grandfathers, DeLoy Lackershire and John Cuggino; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy LePine and maternal grandmother, Shirley Cuggino; two uncles; and numerous extended family.   A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial was held at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 653 Milwaukee Street, Lomira, WI 53048. David J. Murphy

David J. Murphy


David J. Murphy, 74, of rural Cascade (Chinatown) passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at SSM St. Agnes Hospital Fond du Lac. He was born in Milwaukee on June 4, 1949, the son of Francis and Maybelle (nee Corbett) Murphy. Dave graduated from John Marshall High School in Milwaukee and served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. On October 26, 1985, Dave was united in marriage to Beverly Raether at St. Michael’s Church in the Town of Mitchell. Dave worked as an assembler at Giddings and Lewis in Fond du Lac until retirement. Dave was known as the mayor of Chinatown, a member of the Long Lake Preservation Assoc., the Dundee Sportsman Club, and Crooked Trails Snowmobile Club. Dave was always there if you needed help with anything. He had a great sense of humor and loved to be out on his pontoon. Dave was an avid hunter, liked being outdoors in nature, and taking trips up North and to Upper Michigan snowmobiling. Dave enjoyed trips to Ireland and Mexico with a wonderful group of friends. He would not change a thing in his life as he lived a good life and had many good times. Survivors include his beloved wife, Bev; stepson, Glenn Anderson of Sheboygan; brother, Richard Murphy of Milwaukee; other relatives, and many friends. Visitation for Dave will be Wednesday, June 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Memorial Service following at 1 p.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., Campbellsport. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eden, with Military Honors.
