Jakob Mueller, 90, of Theresa, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, at Froedert Hospital in West Bend when he went home to meet his Lord and Savior. He was born in September 22, 1930, in Nikinci, Yugoslavia, to Heinrich and Eva (Bittner) Mueller. Jakob and his family moved to America in 1952 and he became a proud citizen of America. Jakob served in the Army during the Korean War. In 1955 he married his sweetheart Kathy Russ in a double ring ceremony with his sister Rosi and Kathy’s brother, Nick. Jakob farmed in the Mayville area for 30 years. After his retirement, Jakob enjoyed vacationing in St Germain with his wife, sister-in-law, Helen and brother-in- law, Nick. He fished by day and had fun at night joking and laughing. Jakob was proud of his three daughters and his six granddaughters and his seven great-granddaughters and finally there were four great-grandsons in the family. Jakob is survived by his wife, Kathy, and his daughters, Hertha Lackas, Heidi (Dennis) Fiedler, Mary (Bruce) Cundy; granddaughters, Dawn (Tony) Karel, Kristina Belyeu, Melinda (Ryan) Serwe, Jamie (Ben) Schellinger, Jennifer (Robert) Parks, and Ashley Lackas; great-grandchildren, Ava, Gabriella, Kennedy, Brooklynn, Alexis, Lydia, Owen, Blake, Ronni, Knox and Kanon. Jakob is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Rosi and Nick Russ and his sister-in-law, Helen Schimpf and aunt, Mary Bittner, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Joe Lackas and his brother-in-law, Nick Schimpf. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will take at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa on Friday, Nov. 20, with Father Justin Lopina presiding. Gene was born the son of Herman and Sabina (Huber) Bauer on February 12, 1931, in LeRoy. He was united in marriage to Arlien J. Medek on August 22, 1959, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy. Gene worked for W. J. Woodruff Roofing for 45 years and then went on to join the Golden Eagles at Quad/Graphics for 11 years. He was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy and served as a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Gene enjoyed being an umpire for baseball games and was active in the LeRoy Athletic Club. He loved to be outdoors and especially up north at ‘deer camp’ with his family. He also enjoyed Sunday morning cinnamon rolls after mass which was a tradition that Gene never missed. Family was very important to Gene and he loved spending time with them. Helena D. “Bean” Smith, 33, of Horicon and Mayville passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, at the UW Hospital in Madison. Helena was born the daughter of Gary and Suzanne (Voeltz) Smith on November 21, 1986, in Beaver Dam. She spent her first two years of life at the UW Hospital in Madison. Bean loved the outdoors, pie and eating at Applebee’s. She will be deeply missed by her parents; her brother, Michael “Mick” Smith; and her aunts, Jill (John) Voeltz and Lynn (Dave) Pett. John R. “Bob” McClellan, 79, of Montello passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020. Bob was born the son of James and Fern (Shaumberg) McClellan on November 5, 1941, in Iowa. Bob was a graduate of Rockwell City High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Irene Greshay for 42 years. Bob worked for many years at John Deere Company in Horicon and Kreilkamp Trucking. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed being outdoors especially hunting and fishing. Bob loved watching and feeding the birds in his back yard. He also loved a chance to socialize with his family and friends over a beer. Everyone that knew him, knew that behind his grumpiness there was a true heart of gold and he was willing to help anyone. Garriety, 84, of Lomira passed away peacefully and went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020 with his family by his side. He was born on February 1, 1936, to Edgar and Mary (LaVarda) in Nasbro. He was a 1953 graduate of Lomira High School. Ed was united in marriage to Elisabeth Feucht on July 23, 1960. Ed worked for Western Lime for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira. Ed was an avid Ford car collector and was always proud to show them in the local parades. He loved being outdoors, especially in his garden. Being the proud Irishman he was, he looked forward to the yearly family potato harvest. He also enjoyed camping trips, turkey hunting and cutting wood with the family. Ed also enjoyed playing Sheepshead and his toy tractor collection. Above all else, family was the most important thing to him and he never missed a chance to watch his grandkids and great-grandkids participate in a concert or sporting event. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Frances was born the daughter of Nicholas and Alvina (Rubin) Schommer on August 26, 1921, in Hastings, MN. She was a 1939 graduate of South Milwaukee High School. Frances was united in marriage to Alex E. Beck on June 11, 1948, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodland (now Sacred Heart Parish, Horicon) where she served her parish faithfully and was also a member of the Christian Mothers. In her spare time, Frances enjoyed playing sheepshead with friends and going to many area fish frys. She also volunteered her time with the Golden Youth Club in Iron Ridge and had served as a past officer. Frances also was active with the Mayville Senior Center. Family was very important to her and she treasured the time spent visiting her siblings and cherished the time with her children and grandchildren. Jeffrey W. Frank, 65, of Mayville passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020. He was born July 24, 1955, the son of Kenneth and Lois Frank. Jeff was an engineer who worked at Metalcraft of Mayville for several years. He was a gentle soul who enjoyed good food, gardening, and being outdoors. Jeff was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. Jeff is survived by his daughters, Rhyannon Walker and Julaine (fiancé Dustin Bartsch) Koller and his grandchildren Felyx, Faye and Axyl Walker and Eden Koller. Denese M. Myers-Byington, 85, of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Riverview Health Services after contracting COVID-19. Denese was born on November 1, 1934, to Harvey and Dorothea (Nebel) Luedtke, the second of eight children. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Lomira. After graduation in 1953, Denese headed out to Kansas City to train as a flight attendant for TWA. Upon arriving in the “big city,” she didn’t even know how to use a pay phone to call home. Denese enjoyed flying for over twenty years and told many colorful stories about her favorite overseas flights. In 1976, Denese moved to the Northwoods to work for her sister, Donna, at her women’s clothing store in Tomahawk. There she met and married Jim Myers in 1977. Unfortunately, Jim passed away in 1986. Denese was lucky enough to find happiness again when she met Casey Byington, the man who could always make her laugh. They were married on October 26, 1990. They both loved to golf and Denese was especially proud of her hole-in-one. After retiring, Denese and Casey bought a winter getaway in Bradenton, FL, where they could start every morning with a round of golf or a walk on the beach. The two of them were a well-known couple in Bradenton and Tomahawk, stopping regularly at many local establishments to share laughter and good cheer. Sadly, Casey passed away first on July 22, 2018, after 28 years of marriage. Denese is survived by one sister, Donna (Ron) Sterr, of Tomahawk; one brother-in-law, Lloyd (Sally) Byington, and one sister-in-law, “Chub” (Janice) Byington, both of Wonewoc; five step-children, Nancy (Leslie) Myers of Hortonville, Tom (Sandy) Myers of Bradenton, FL, Terry (Tony) Barnes of Hillsboro, Kevin Byington of Greensboro, PA, and Suzanne (Chris) Beard of Rockton, IL; nine step-grandchildren, Tara Myers of Bradenton, FL, Ashley Pollock of Lakeland, FL, Tiffany (Lee) Barnes of Presque Isle, Ashley (Ken) Kishman of Monona, IA, Jared (Sarah) Barnes of Caledonia, MN, Corrine Byington of Wonewoc, Alexis Byington of Hudson, FL, Amanda Endicott of Waconda, IL, and Kayla Brewer of Louisville, KY; further survived by 16 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
