  Doris Mae Hammes (nee Bogenschutz), 86, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.  She was born on December 28, 1937, to Elmer and Margaret (nee Eisch) Bogenschutz.   Doris loved her time with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.     Doris was a welder for the West Bend Company for many years. She enjoyed her West Bend Company lady lunches, YMCA girls, her TOPS friends and enjoyed playing Sheepshead with her friends. Doris was an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan. She loved traveling to visit her family out of state and her annual mother-daughter trips. Her passion was cooking that was enjoyed by many. Sitting and doing her jigsaw puzzles was fun for Doris. Most of all, Doris did not want people to grieve but to cherish the memories.   Doris is survived by her children, David (Debbie), Daniel, Doreen (Gary) Thull, Dale, Doug (Becky), Dawn (Scott) Weiss; grandchildren, Danna (Drew) Courson, Diane (John) Burleson, Daniel Jr. (Bobby Bush), Dominique (Chad) Miller, Naomi (Brandon) Schwartz, Zach (Eryn) Thull, Zeph Thull, Jessica (Steven) Hermiz, Melissa Hammes, Heather (Patrick) Quinn, Paige and Brynn Hammes, Ashley (Nathan) Reitz, Lindsey (Eric) Schmidt, Dustin (Michaela Nickel) Weiss; 35 great-grandchildren; extended family, Mary (Pete) Gramoll and their children, Mandi (Sal) LoCoco, Katie (Craig) Dunfee, Matt (Beth) Gramoll; siblings, Tom (Carol) Bogenschutz, Mary King, Gary (Laura) Bogenschutz and Debbie Bogenschutz. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.    Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hammes, her parents; parents-in-law, John (Laura) Hammes; siblings, Bobby Bogenschutz, Jerry (Sylvia) Bogenschutz, Janice (Jim) Mueller, Jim Bogenschutz and brother-in-law, Fritz Schmitt.  A Memorial Mass was at 11a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (406 Jefferson St. West Bend, WI 53090) with Fr. Jacob Strand presiding. The Visitation was at church on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. until 10:45a.m.   A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.
