ROB BOWE The pioneers of Dodge County were guided by hard work and pride in the land. In rural areas the individual churches were the social as well as the religious centers of the pioneers’ lives. Hard work, honesty and pride in the land was what one lived. Many lived by old country folklore traditions and superstitions before the era of people attending high school and college. Early American founder Benjamin Franklin made a living off printing a yearly almanac capitalizing on these old folklore sayings and traditions.

KAREN ROUSE The School District of Lomira conducted its second Digital Learning Day (student virtual learning) on Tuesday, Feb. 16, for students in sixth through 12th grades. The first DLD occurred one year ago, before educators learned of closing schools to in-person learning in March 2020 to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
