Campbellsport Boys Basketball Starts the Season on the Road

On November 26, Campbellsport boys basketball lost 69-19 to Whitefish Bay in their season opener on the road.

Whitefish Bay (1-0) started the game with a 12-0 lead over Campbellsport (0-1) before Noah Bobb scored a basket with 12:30 on the first half clock.

Braden Bothe made a three pointer in the corner in the first half plus Bothe and Bobb each made two free throws each to pace the Cougars in scoring with Whitefish Bay holding a 45-9 halftime lead.

Campbellsport continued to show effort during the second half with Emmett Gonnering making two tough baskets in the paint then Bothe and Carter Gellings made three-point baskets in the second half for the Cougars.

The Cougars were led by Braden Bothe’s eight points in the 69-19 non-conference loss at Whitefish Bay.

At West Bend East

On December 2, Campbellsport boys basketball lost 73-53 to West Bend East in their non-conference matchup.

Campbellsport (0-2) held an early 9-4 lead over West Bend East (1-0) featuring an Owen Bong three pointer for the Cougars.

The Suns went on 10-0 run before a nice assist from Jace Goebel to Noah Bobb put the score 14-11 in favor of West Bend East.

West Bend East had another 12-0 scoring spurt to extend their lead to 26-11 but the Cougars responded with back-to-back three pointers by Bobb and Carter Gellings to close the gap to 26-17.

The Cougars got another three-point make from Bobb late in the first half before the Suns going in with a 37-22 lead at the halftime break.

Emmett Gonnering started the second half strong for Campbellsport with three points to bring the score to 39-25 with West Bend East in the lead.

The Suns pushed their lead to 52-31 but the Cougars wouldn’t go quietly into the night by getting consecutive made three pointers from Trent Schaldweiler and Bong to tighten the game with a score of 52-41.

The Campbellsport comeback wasn’t meant to be with the Suns extending their lead late in the second half for a 73-53 victory over the visiting Cougars.

Campbellsport was led by Noah Bobb with 11 points in the non-conference matchup.

Campbellsport will host rival Lomira on December 6, at 7 p.m. during the upcoming week.
