Campbellsport Fire Department Delivers Baby

Posted

A regular weekend morning took an unexpected turn for the Davis family of Campbellsport on Saturday, January 25, when their newborn daughter made a surprise arrival at home, just minutes after emergency responders arrived.
The Campbellsport Fire Department confirmed that their crew helped deliver a healthy baby girl that morning. “Yes, our department did deliver a baby girl on January 25 of this year!” shared the department.
The ambulance crew, made up of Don Schrauth, Vicky Boegel, Tori Jacklin, and Mark Reseburg, responded to the emergency and arrived just in time.
Kassie Davis recalled getting up and walking around at 3 a.m., assuming the contractions she was feeling were simply Braxton Hicks.
“I was scheduled to be induced that Monday,” said Kassie.

As her contractions became stronger, things escalated quickly within a couple of hours.
“I woke up David (Kassie’s husband) and he immediately called his mom to come watch our older daughter and we started getting ready to go,” recalled the Campbellsport mom. “Things quickly changed and I realized it was about to happen and we weren’t going to have enough time for someone to get there and get to the hospital.”
David called 911 at 5:18 a.m. The ambulance team arrived within 13 minutes of the call, and just two minutes before baby Charlotte was born.
After the delivery at the Davis home, Kassie and Charlotte were transported to SSM Health in Fond du Lac and the two were reported to be healthy.
“We couldn’t be more grateful that it all turned out the way it did,” remarked Kassie.
A week after the event, the family brought Charlotte back to visit the first responders who helped deliver her.
“The crew was wonderful and we were fortunate enough to take Charlotte to see them again with a treat about a week after,” said the Davis family. “We hope to continue to stay in touch so they can watch her grow.”
Charlotte is now nearly three months old and the Davis family is forever grateful for the assistance of the Campbellsport first responders.
