On November 25, Campbellsport girls basketball lost 45-37 to Random Lake in their non-conference matchup.
Random Lake (1-1) scored the first eight points of the game before Ava Sabish scored two consecutive baskets for the Cougars to make the score 8-4 in favor of the Rams early in the first half.
The Rams scored five straight points before the Cougars went on their own 8-0 run featuring three pointers from Mackenzie Helsell and Hadlee Rohlfs to make the score 13-12 with Random Lake in the lead at the 3:15 mark in the first half.
Random Lake closed the first half with an 8-2 run in the final three minutes to give themselves a halftime lead of 21-14 over the Cougars.
The Cougars came out roaring in the second half by getting back-to-back three pointers from Sabish and Josie Twohig to take a 25-23 lead with 13 minutes on the clock.
The Rams responded with a 7-0 run to take back the lead from Campbellsport before Sabish hit another three pointer to make the score 3029 in favor of the Rams with eight mintues left in the game.
The rest of the second half was a back-andforth affair between the two teams with Random Lake holding a 37-36 lead after Sabish made her fourth three pointer of the game with 4:19 left in the game.
Campbellsport wasn’t able to retake the lead in the final minutes of the game and left the court with a 45-37 loss to the Rams.
Campbellsport girls’ basketball hosted conference rival Mayville to open their Flyway Conference schedule on December 3, at 7 p.m., and then will travel to Sheboygan South on December 5, at 7 p.m.
