Campbellsport Ice Fishing Compete at State

Posted

On Feb 21, the Campbellsport ice fishing team had 12 students travel to waters between Stevens Point and Wausau for the WIFA High School State ice fishing tournament.
“We chose to fish Big Eau Pleine Lake. Teams tried to fill their card of ten crappie, ten perch, ten blue gill, five pike, and five bass/walleye,” said Head Coach Madi Rahmer. “We were able to fill our card on crappie, perch, and walleye, but fell short on pike and blue gill.”
Campbellsport had a total of 282.25 inches for a 16th-place finish out of 92, with teams stepping foot on the ice at 630 am and putting lines in the water from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
“We had 2 anglers from the team receive their 2025 Master Angler Plaque, with Senior Adam Rahmer and Sophomore Austin Rahmer entered into the Master Angler program along with 132 other students from across the state to try and fill their card of 34 different species with a specific length requirement,” said Rahmer.
