Campbellsport LEGO Builders Bring Home Top Honor at Wauwatosa Expo

The Campbellsport LEGO Builders, a LEGO First Inpires team, made up of six 2nd-4th graders from Campbellsport, won the Team Model Award at the LOL Wauwatosa LEGO Expo on April 11.
The team was started due to CES third-grader Brody Cahill having an interest in being on a LEGO team. Unfortunately, in the rural Campbellsport area, there were no teams for younger students.
Shauna and Jessie Cahill, Brody’s parents, started the team in January with the help of some sponsors. The sponsors included: Sprinklerfitter Local 183 of Milwaukee, Ahern Fire Protection, Wright Veterinary Clinic, and the Ashford Town Hall.
Once the team was registered and all of the materials were purchased, registration opened, and the team filled up within minutes.
The Campbellsport LEGO Builders had just under four months to work through their LEGO lesson plans, which had a theme focused on archaeology.

The team worked on a team build, a team poster, and a presentation for their expo event, where they competed against 29 other teams and had to present to a panel of judges.
“Jessie and I are so proud of the kids, grateful for the families involved, and thankful for the sponsors to make this program happen. We look forward to running the program again next school year. If more teams want to get established in the Campbellsport area, please reach out, as we would love to partner together/mentor others so we can allow the opportunity for even more kids to participate,” Shauna said.
