Campbellsport Volleyball Wins Three Matches at Beaver Dam Invite

On September 13, Campbellsport volleyball won three matches in two sets at the Beaver Dam Invite.
Campbellsport (8-9) lost their first two matches of the day against Oshkosh West and Edgerton in two sets, but the Cougars responded by winning their next three matches against Waukesha North, Horicon, and Flyway Conference rival Mayville in two sets.
The Cougars’ match victory over Mayville was payback for their conference loss to the Cardinals two days earlier in three sets.
“I’m really proud of how the girls competed this weekend, with the team going 3-2 on the day and showing a lot of perseverance, especially after coming off a tough loss to Mayville on Thursday,” said Head Coach Alexandra Brenner. “Beating Mayville in two sets showed how the team buckled down when things got tough and kept pushing. It was a great step forward for us.”

On September 11, Campbellsport volleyball lost the first set 15-25 to the hosting Mayville Cardinals.
The Cougars were down 21-10 in the second set before going on a 13-2 scoring run to tie the set at 23, but the Cardinals scored the final two points in the set to win 25-23 to take a 2-0 set lead over Campbellsport (8-9, 1-1).
The third set was a back-and-forth affair between the two rivals, with the set hanging in the balance throughout, tied at 23.
Mayville (9-6, 2-0) got to match point at 24-23, when the two teams exchanged long rallies, displaying their volleyball skills and competitive spirit. However, the Cardinals played to make the final play to win the third set 25-23, giving them a 3-0 win over the Cougars.
Campbellsport volleyball hosts Springs on September 18 at 7 p.m. and will travel to Berlin on September 20, with matches starting at 9 a.m.
