C.H.S. Triumphs at State Visual Art Classic

Posted

After a very successful day at the State Visual Art Classic (VAC), Campbellsport High School students came home with several individual medals and the first ever VAC state team trophy for Campbellsport.
As a team, Campbellsport competed against 15 other schools around Wisconsin in a Quiz Bowl competition, where the students had to work together to answer 30 questions about 12 different artists. In the end, their studying and preparation paid off, as Campbellsport came out on top, taking the first place trophy.
In addition to the team’s triumph, Campbellsport students brought home 17 individual medals. Sam Ellenbecker earned a gold and a silver medal for his drawings, while Anna Batzler took home two gold medals in the same category. Jaedyn Burns received two gold medals for her artwork inspired by Art History. Alyssa Downham was awarded a gold and a silver medal for her work in printmaking, and Sadie Homuth also brought home a gold and a silver medal for her sculptures. Aubrey Cousert earned a silver and a bronze medal in the design category. In ceramics, Hunter Buchberger won a gold medal, and Michaela Darmoday earned a silver. Emily Ohme and Cali Kneevers both received silver medals for their paintings, and Olyvia Haynes earned a bronze medal in the design category.
Also, huge congratulations to the team’s seniors and co-captains Sam Ellenbecker and Anna Batzler. Sam Ellenbecker was the first person from Campbellsport High School to be nominated for the Sherry Zei Best of VAC award at state after winning the vote of his teammates and the vote of the Milwaukee Region. Anna Batzler is the first art student at CHS to win a total of eight gold medals in her four years of high school. That means she has won gold on all of the art pieces she has submitted to each VAC competition.
