On March 6, Campbellsport boys basketball lost 75-54 to two-seed Berlin on the road in the second round of the WIAA Boys Basketball Tournament.
Berlin (21-4) held a 36-21 halftime lead over Campbellsport (8-18), which the Indians maintained the rest of the game in the tournament matchup.

“They showed why their team is a 20-win team with their size and physicality,” said Head Coach Ethan Elliott.
Noah Bobb led Campbellsport with 22 points, and Carter Gellings with 12 points in their final game of the season.
Vs NFDL
On March 3, the Campbellsport boys’ basketball team had a dominant 75-43 home win over NFDL in the first round of the WIAA Division 3 Tournament.
Campbellsport (8-18) held a 9-5 lead over NFDL (6-19) when Carter Gellings knocked down a three-pointer in the corner for the Cougars.
Cullen Reis got a steal on the defensive end of the court and showed more hustle by diving on the floor to secure the loose ball to secure possession for Cambpellsport, then Noah Bobb scored to give the Cougars a 16-9 lead at the ten-minute mark of the first half.
NFDL closed the gap to 16-15 before the Cougars went on a 7-0 scoring run highlighted by Trent Schladweiler and Pierce Kaehne combining on a steal which led to a fast break basket from Kaehne to give Campbellsport a 23-15 lead with less than six minutes left inthe half.
Gellings hit another three from the corner on an assist from Bobb, and Kaehne splashed in a three-pointer, then Reis took a charge on defense for the Cougars before he scored a basket with eight seconds left on the first-half clock to give Campbellsport a 31-23 halftime lead.
Bobb scored a tough drive to the basket, and Kaehne drove through the entire defense to get the Cougars off on a fast start in the second half with a 35-23 lead over the Orioles.
“The guys raised their intensity and built some great rhythm and confidence, which allowed us to dominate the second half,” said Head Coach Ethan Elliott. “Pierce was huge for us with defensive and offensive aggression.”
Schladweiler scored five points, including a three-pointer from a pass by Reis to expand the Cougars’ lead to 42-27.
Campbellsport continued sharing the basketball on the offensive to further their lead to 55-36, featuring four points from Bobb, and seven points from Schladweiler, with one play sticking out in that stretch when Schladweiler got an offensive rebound and hit a three-pointer to end the possession, showcasing the hustle the Cougars were playing with in the tournament game.
“We were selfless, and it created a fun night on offense for us with seven players scoring six or more points,” said Elliott. “The more touches we share, the more we lock in defensively as well.”
The Cougars’ effort didn’t slow the rest of the game, with Schaldweiler knocking down his third three-pointer of the game and Quinten Cappozzo contributing six points to help close out the impressive 75-43 tournament win for Campbellsport.
Trent Schladweiler scored 21 points, and Pierce Kaehne scored 15 points to help the Cougars beat the Orioles for the third time during the season.
“We always preach how our process is focused on playing our best basketball in March, and we put that on display,” said Elliott. “It was important because we wanted the seniors to walk off their home court for the last time with a win, and I am proud they were able to get another home playoff win.”
