Last Monday, December 15, the Cougars headed to Pioneer Bowl in Richfield for the second time this season. This time, they faced the Spartans of West Bend West. West Bend also has a young team, as do the Cougars, but the Cougars, even though young, have a strong bowling background.
The score was 8-1 on the evening in favor of the Cougars. The Cougars and the Spartans both struggled through the first four games, and then the Cougars finally got their game together and pounded out high games of 185, 167, and 148 in the last set. The Cougars are usually better at spare shooting, but tonight their spare game was suffering. Abby Jarmuz and Kendall Boegel set the pace, filling 12 of 16 frames and 8 of 14, respectively. Lillee Thorn filled 9 of 16 to chip in for the win.
The Cougars are now on Christmas break and resume competition on January 5.
Stats for the match were as follows (strikes-spares-total frames): Lillee Kiehnau 6-3-16; Kendall Boegel 3-5-14; Ava Polzin 5-3-16; Viola Schrauth 0-2-14; Abby Jarmuz 6-6-16; Genna Grahl 3-4-14.
