County Receives Update on Jail Population Study

Posted

The Fond du Lac County Board of Supervisors received an update on March 17 regarding the ongoing jail population study being conducted by Just US Services Group.
Tom Wagner of Just US Services Group presented the progress of the study, which the county commissioned to evaluate current and future jail bed needs. The study is a key component in the county’s planning process as officials consider a proposed new jail.
According to Wagner, the study is focused on analyzing trends in jail usage, identifying factors that impact population levels, and evaluating alternatives to incarceration. The goal is to provide accurate projections that will help determine the appropriate number of beds needed both now and in the future.
The findings from this study will play an important role in guiding the work of Venture Architects, which has been contracted to develop schematic designs for the proposed facility. Those designs will include preliminary floor plans, site concepts, and initial cost estimates.
County officials emphasized that no final decisions have been made regarding the size, location, or cost of the project.
Wagner said the study is expected to be completed by the May 19 County Board meeting, at which time he will present the complete results to the board.
