Posted

Rob Kertscher and Logan Kertscher, a father and son fishing team, took home first place in the U.S. Anglers Choice Championship. The tournament was held February 27-28 on Lake Guntersville in Scottsboro, Ala.
Logan has been fishing since he was 14 years old and participates in other fishing tournaments in the area. This was the first year that Rob and Logan had fished this tournament together.
The U.S. Anglers Choice tournament series includes about one tournament a month and the season goes from April to September. The top 20 teams from each division qualified for the championship and over 255 boats fished the tournament. To prepare for the tournament, Rob and Logan went down to Alabama to fish the lake prior to the tournament.
On the first day of the tournament, the team ended the day with 27.28 lbs, which put them in the lead. Rob was able to catch his personal best bass as well with a 7.08 lb bass. The second day, they weighed in at 26.55 lbs. This put their total at 53.83 lbs, allowing them to win the tournament by 3 lbs. They were able to take home the cash prize and a new boat.
They plan on continuing to fish tournaments together, with the U.S. Anglers Choice series happening through September. Logan will also participate in a variety of other bass tournaments during the season.
