Hike, Dine, Drum

Posted

The Friends of the Kettle Moraine invite you and your entire family for a unique family event, Hike, Dine, Drum, on Saturday, September 13, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. The event will be held outdoors at the Zillmer Trail area of the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Northern Unit. The Zillmer Trail parking lot is located at W833 County Road SS, Campbellsport, which is west of County Road G near New Prospect.
The event starts at 4:30 with a hike along the three-mile Red Loop or 1.8-mile Green Loop of the Zillmer Trails. Both trails offer beautiful walks through the woods on not too challenging, wide trail paths. At 5:30 participants may enjoy a tasty fall harvest dinner back at the Zillmer Shelter. The cost for the meal, including drinks and dessert, is $15 per person. To reserve your spot for dinner, please text or call 920-313-1566 by September 6.
Ryan Meisel takes the stage at 6:30 for a campfire concert. Blending his background in jazz with the sounds of indigenous music from around the globe, Ryan’s presentation of music blurs the lines between performance, meditation, and soulful exploration. His music honors his deep spiritual connection to the earth and nature while providing a context for his personal expression through organic sound. He performs live saxophones, Native flutes, indigenous woodwinds, whistles, and electronic wind instruments to his prerecorded accompaniment of drums, shakers, bells, rattles, world percussion and electronics. Come enjoy Ryan’s original acoustic music and participate in a drumming circle. If you have your own drum, you are encouraged to bring it. Ryan will have some drums and shakers for people to use.
This is an outside concert, so remember to bring your blankets and lawn chairs.
You can join in all three activities or pick and choose in which ones you would like to participate. You only need to make reservations for the dinner to make sure we have plenty of food for everyone.

A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required for parking. Well behaved and leashed dogs are allowed at the Zillmer Trail area.
In case of inclement weather, the dinner and concert will be moved inside the enclosed shelter.
