Jaedyn Burns has been named one of Campbellsport High School’s Class of 2026 co-valedictorians.
Burns joined the Campbellsport School District in seventh grade after previously attending Shepherd of the Hills.
Throughout high school, Jaedyn has balanced academics, leadership, and creativity in a way that reflects what she values most: growth, connection, and purpose.
She serves as president of the National Honor Society, Fine Arts Club, and Future Business Leaders of America, and as vice president of the Science National Honor Society.
Jaedyn has competed at both the regional and state levels in FBLA, Science Olympiad, and the Visual Arts Classic, and was selected to participate in the Sophia Partners Youth Leadership Program during her junior year.
She is thankful for the recognition of her work through achievements like receiving a Scholastic Gold Key in Photography, being a two-time national qualifier in FBLA, earning top placements at the regional and state levels in VAC, and being named the Sherry Zei Award recipient. This year, she will also be inducted into the National Art Honor Society.
Outside of school, much of her time has been spent giving back. She volunteers throughout her community, serves on the Fond du Lac United Way Youth Advisory Board, and supports students through tutoring in both English and Spanish.
Through the National Honor Society, Jaedyn has been able to complete a variety of service projects. One of her most meaningful projects was organizing the first annual Fall Festival, which raised $1,000 for Project Angel Hugs, an organization that supports families affected by cancer and one she has volunteered with since middle school.
Her academic interests are centered around understanding people: how they think, how they behave, and how those patterns connect to health and justice.
Early on, she realized that psychology offers a human lens that biology alone cannot provide. Where biology shows the mechanisms, psychology gives the meaning. She has developed a strong interest in psychiatry, especially where it intersects with the legal system.
The more she learned, the more she saw the need for doctors who understand both science and people, especially in situations where misunderstanding can have real consequences.
In the fall, Jaedyn will attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she plans to double major in Medicine, Health, and Society, and Psychology, with a minor in Spanish
on the Pre-Medicine track.
She hopes to become a forensic psychiatrist and continue using both science and empathy to better understand and support others.
Whether she is leading, creating, or competing, Jaedyn remains deeply grateful to her family for their constant support and to the teachers who have guided and encouraged her along the way.
