Kewaskum Athletic Association and Kewaskum Tribe Assist with Preparing Baseball Fields

Posted

The Kewaskum Tribe Baseball organization and the Kewaskum Athletic Association have teamed up to help upgrade the baseball fields at Kiwanis Park.
Over the past few weeks, volunteers from both groups have been hard at work completing a series of improvement projects to ensure the park is ready for players and fans. Among the upgrades, sand and new turf were installed in the batting cages, along with fresh topsoil around their new concrete border. Additional topsoil was placed around the new dugouts on Field 1, and new grass was planted to enhance the area around the cages.
Field 1 also received two newly built and installed bridges, and new base pegs were placed on Fields 1 and 2, as well as the practice field on the right. A fresh layer of Magic Mix was spread across the infields of Fields 1, 2, 3, and the practice field.
Volunteers also leveled and recut the infield-to-outfield transitions on Fields 1, 2, and 3, ensuring smoother gameplay. New equipment and a wireless relay were added, allowing Field 2’s lights to be controlled from the concession stand.
Finally, the dugouts on Field 3 were relocated, and traffic bond was added to prevent ongoing mud issues in the area.
The construction of the new dugouts is in progress on Field 1 and Field 2 and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
The Kewaskum Tribe teams played their first games of the season on April 21 and April 22 on the newly updated fields.
