The Kewaskum School District has named Mr. Mark Getz as the new principal of Kewaskum Elementary School.
Getz has more than 15 years of experience in education, including five years as an elementary principal. Most recently, he served as principal of Lincoln STEM and LEAP Elementary Schools in Watertown, where he led programs in STEM, agriculture, and environmental education.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Bazata said Getz stood out in the hiring process for his leadership and commitment to student learning.
“Mr. Getz brings over 15 years of experience in education, including over five years as an elementary principal, with a proven track record of instructional leadership, innovation, and strong community engagement,” Bazata said. “He is highly regarded for his ability to use data to guide decision-making, foster inclusive school cultures, and empower staff through collaboration and trust. What impressed us most was his clear focus on student learning as the constant—balancing high expectations with flexibility, compassion, and support for both students and staff. His leadership style aligns closely with the values and vision of the Kewaskum School District.”
In his statement, Getz said he is eager to begin building relationships within the school and the wider Kewaskum community.
“I bring more than 15 years of experience in education, serving as both a classroom teacher and school leader in a variety of settings,” Getz said. “Throughout my career, I have focused on fostering collaborative school cultures, supporting staff development, and using data-informed practices to improve student outcomes. I’m passionate about building strong relationships with students, families, and the community, and look forward to contributing to the growth and success of Kewaskum Elementary.”
