Students at St. Lucas Lutheran School marked Read Across America Day with a week-long celebration of books, activities, and themed snacks, school officials said.
The annual observance, held March 2, inspired the school to extend the festivities across the full week, with a different featured book, activity, and snack each day.
Students capped the week on Friday with a screening of the film “Matilda” and a reading of Dr. Seuss’ classic “Green Eggs and Ham,” a staple of Read Across America celebrations nationwide.
Read Across America Day is an annual initiative organized by the National Education Association to promote literacy and a love of reading among children and young adults. The observance is held each year on or near the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.
