Tracking on Snowshoes

Posted

Does your yard look like Billy from “Family Circus” went on a journey? Do you want to figure out what critter munched your favorite shrub or what animals traversed through an area? Join Jackie Scharfenberg, retired DNR naturalist, for Tracking on Snowshoes scheduled for Saturday, February 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The program will be held at the Ice Age Visitor Center (N2875 Hwy 67, Campbellsport – up the hill from Dundee). This program is sponsored by Friends of the Kettle Moraine.
The program will start inside the Ice Age Visitor Center where Jackie will share tips on deciphering the clues left behind by our wild neighbors. After bundling up, we will head outside to strap on pairs of snowshoes. Don’t fret if you have never snowshoed before. If you can walk, you can snowshoe. Then we will explore the local trails and woods, tracking the animals to solve the mysteries of their recent activities. If there is not enough snow for snowshoeing, we will walk the trails.
For more information about this fun-filled family event or directions, contact the Friends of the Kettle at 920-313-1566 or via email at friendsofthekettlemoraine@gmail.com. If the weather does not cooperate – snowstorm, or severe cold temperatures, we will cancel the program. For event status, check the Friends of the Kettle Moraine’s Facebook page or website (kmnorthfriends.org).
