The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center will host its 25th Anniversary Remembrance Event on Friday, September 11, 2026, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Memorial, located at 1308 Fond du Lac Avenue in Kewaskum. This year’s ceremony marks a quarter century since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and honors the nearly 3,000 innocent people killed, as well as the first responders, military personnel and countless others whose lives were forever changed by that day.
The outdoor ceremony brings together community members, veterans, first responders, elected officials and visitors from across Wisconsin for an afternoon of remembrance, education and unity. This year’s program will feature a keynote address from Jessica Kraemer Osenbrugge, a West Bend native who was living in New York City on September 11, 2001, and will be emceed by Erik Bilstad, morning radio host at WTMJ 620.
In recognition of the 25 years that have passed since the attacks, the Memorial will ring a bell 25 times during the ceremony—once for each year since September 11, 2001.
The event will also include an update on the Memorial’s capital campaign to build a new Museum and Education Center on site. The planned indoor facility will expand the organization’s ability to educate visitors, particularly younger generations and educators with little or no direct memory of September 11, 2001, about the events of that day and their lasting impact.
In a separate tribute the same day, the Milwaukee Brewers will honor the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center during their Friday, September 11 home game at 6:40 p.m., extending the day’s remembrance to fans across the state.
The Remembrance Event is free and open to the public. Community members, students and families are encouraged to attend and pay tribute to the victims, survivors, and heroes of September 11, 2001.
