Allan was born in Wauwatosa to Ella Gessner on June 29, 1947. They moved to New Fane where he spent his childhood. He lived with his mother in New Fane and later was a resident at several VA Hospitals and private group homes, with the last and most enjoyable residence being the home at Fitchburg.
He had an enthusiasm for reading, especially various versions of the Bible, and was knowledgeable in a wide variety of topics and interests.
Allan was preceded by his mother, Ella, and many aunts, uncles and other relatives.

He is further survived by cousins, Marleen (the late Ira) Heberer, Mardell (James) Schulz, Russell Reysen, Mary Jane (George) Klein, Raylene (Steve) Justinger, Joanne (the late Paul) Schneiss, Diane (Bill) Richter, Kathy Gessner and Glenn Gessner, along with extended family and many friends.
