On July 26, Campbellsport 19U Legion Baseball beat Springs/Fondy 2-0 to win the Regional 4 Championship and will return to the Class A American Legion Baseball Tournament to defend last season’s state championship.
Campbellsport (15-7) scored the first run of the game in the third inning when Trent Schaldweiler hit an RBI double to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead over Springs/Fondy.
Levi Bentz scored the second run of the game in the fifth inning to increase Campbellsport’s lead to 2-0.
The two-run lead was all starting pitcher Braden Bothe would need to get the win by limiting Springs to two hits and striking out 11 batters to secure a 2-0 Regional Championship win.
Vs Ripon
On July 25, Campbellsport 19U Legion Baseball defeated Ripon 10-3 to advance to the Championship Round on Sunday against Springs/Fondy.
Campbellsport (15-7) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jace Goebel hit an RBI double to start the scoring against Ripon.
Ripon tied the game at one in the third inning before the Cougars erupted for four runs in the bottom of the third inning, featuring a Cullen Reis RBI triple and a two-run RBI single from Gage Kohlmann to give Campbellsport a 5-1 lead.
The Cougars were leading 5-3 in the fifth inning facing two outs when Campbellsport scored three more runs, highlighted by a Keegan Bowe RBI single and a Trent Schladweiler RBI triple to increase their lead to 8-3.
Vs Springs/Fondy
On July 24, Campbellsport 19U Legion Baseball beat Springs/Fondy 10-0 in five innings to advance to the winners’ bracket on Saturday.
Campbellsport (15-7) scored the first run of the game in the first inning thanks to Gage Kohlmann’s RBI single to take a 1-0 lead over Springs.
Cullen Reis hit a three-run home run over the center field fence in the second inning to increase the Cougars’ lead to 4-0.
