Campbellsport Baseball Goes to 9-0 After Two-Game Sweep of Cardinals

On April 17, Campbellsport baseball beat Mayville 7-5 to sweep the season series between the teams.
Campbellsport (9-0, 4-0) was trailing 1-0 to Mayville (5-2, 2-2) after the top of the first inning when the Cougars’ offense exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Cougars got an RBI triple from Jace Goebel and an RBI single by Brody Nolan for the first two runs of the inning for a 2-1 lead.
Campbellsport scored two more runs in the first before the Cardinals got two outs on the Cougars, but that didn’t stop the Campbellsport offense. Trent Schladweiler hit a double to drive in a run, and Kyler Bowe ended the scoring binge with an RBI single to take a commanding 7-1 lead after one inning of play.

Mayville was able to score two runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings to close the gap on the scoreboard with a score of 7-5.
The Cougars were able to contain the Cardinals in the seventh inning to secure the game with a 7-5 win for their ninth consecutive win to start the season.
“We utilized a big first inning to stay unbeaten on the season,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Campbellsport was paced by Kyler Bowe and Brody Nolan, combining for five hits and three runs batted in to get the conference victory.
At Mayville
On April 15, Campbellsport baseball won 13-3 over Mayville in the battle of Flyway unbeatens.
Campbellsport (9-0, 4-0) got an early jolt of power when Brody Nolan hit a two-run home run over the left field fence to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead over Mayville (5-2, 2-2) in the first inning.
The Cardinals scored in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 2-1 before Jace Goebel hit a double for his second hit of the game to start the third inning, before Braden Bothe singled to drive in Goebel for a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning.
Campbellsport scored three more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Bothe to extend their lead to 6-1 over the Cardinals.
The Cougars' offense continued their strong showing in the fifth inning by scoring three more runs with two outs, featuring Goebel getting a two-run RBI single to take a 9-1 lead.
Mayville scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning for a score of 9-2, but Campbellsport wasn’t done with their hitting in this contest when they added four more runs in the seventh inning.
Carson Heisdorf finished the Cougars' scoring with a three-run double with two outs in the seventh inning to push their lead to 13-2 before the Cardinals scored a final run to make the final score 13-3 for a Campbellsport victory.
“The Cougars' offense exploded on Tuesday night, which was more than enough for Riley to pitch a complete game on the mound,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Campbellsport was led by Riley Kohlman’s strong seven innings with eight strikeouts and Brody Nolan, Jace Goebel, and Braden Bothe combining for seven hits and seven RBIs for their eighth straight win to start the season.
Campbellsport baseball hosted Lomira on April 22 and travels to Lomira on April 24, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. Then the Cougars travel to Kewaskum on April 25 at 4:45 p.m.
