On May 4, Campbellsport baseball lost 6-2 to Fond du Lac at home in their non-conference matchup.
Fond du Lac (7-5) broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead over Campbellsport (7-7).
The Cardinals added a run in the fifth and sixth innings before the Cougars scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, highlighted by a Jace Goebel RBI single to make the score 5-2 in favor of Fond du Lac.
Fond du Lac added a run in the sixth inning to secure the 6-2 win over the Cougars.
At Columbus
On May 1, Campbellsport baseball beat Columubs 14-1 on the road during a cool spring day.
Columbus (3-8) scored their only run of the game in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over Campbellsport (7-7).
Campbellsport got a double from Carter Gellings and a single from Gage Kohlman to load the bases in the second inning with one out.
Sawyer Galligan hit a two-run RBI single to right field to take a 2-1 lead, and Cullen Reis hit a bases-clearing three-run double after the Cougars loaded the bases again in the inning to increase the Campbellsport lead to 5-1.
The Cougars scored two more runs in the fourth inning with two out, thanks to a Jace Goebel two-run RBI single to push their lead to 7-1.
The Campbellsport bats stayed hot on a cold night in the sixth inning when Gellings hit a two-run RBI single to expand the Coguars’ lead to 9-1 over Columbus.
Campbellsport manufactured five more runs in the seventh inning after getting the bases loaded on three different occasions and highlighted by a Levi Bentz RBI single to give the Cougars an impressive 14-1 non-conference victory.
Carter Gellings and Cullen Reis combined to drive in five runs to pace the Campbellsport offense in their road win.
Vs WLA
On April 30, Campbellsport baseball lost 5-0 to Winnebago Lutheran Academy at home to give the Vikings the season series between the two teams.
WLA (8-5, 5-3) scored their first game in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead over Campbellsport (7-7, 1-6).
The Vikings added two runs in the third and fourth innings to push their lead to 5-0, which turned out to be the final score between the two teams.
At WLA
On April 28, Campbellsport baseball lost 4-3 to Winnebago Lutheran Academy on the road in their Flyway conference matchup.
Campbellsport (7-7, 1-6) got the bases loaded with one out in the first inning, resulting in a run when Wyatt Loehr scored to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead over WLA (8-5, -3).
The Cougars added a run with a triple RBI from Loehr to increase the Campbellsport lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning.
Carson Heisdorf hit an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning for a 3-0 Cougars lead before the Vikings scored four runs in the bottom of the inning without registering a hit in the inning.
“Levi had a great outing, holding WLA to two hits in the game,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Campbellsport baseball hosted NFDL on May 5 after print time. The Cougars will travel to NFRL on May 7 at 5 p.m. and then host their home triangular on May 9 with games starting at 10 a.m.
