On April 4, Campbellsport baseball beat Ripon 8-2 for their third consecutive win during the first week of the season.
Campbellsport (3-0) scored three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Braden Bothe two-run RBI double to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead over Ripon (0-3).
The Tigers scored a run in the fifth inning to inch closer to the Cougars with a score of 3-1.
The Cougars were able to manufacture five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, featuring a Cullen Reis RBI single to expand Campbellsport’s lead to 8-1.
“Our offense stayed hot for us to start the game,” said Head Coach Jim Krug. “That would be all our pitching staff would need to get the win.”
Ripon scored a final run in the seventh inning but was held in check by the pitching trio of Owen Bong, Kyler Bowe, and Reis who combined for ten strikeouts in the 8-2 win.
The Cougars’ offense was led by Braden Bothe’s three RBIs in their impressive team win.
“Our pitching staff has been great so far,” said Krug. “ We knew our staff top to bottom would get us through the schedule on a weekly basis and week one didn’t disappoint in the three games, we have only given up three earned runs and nine total hits.”
At Oakfield
On April 3, Campbellsport baseball beat Oakfield 12-0 in five innings on the road in their non-conference matchup.
Campbellsport (3-0) exploded for six runs in the first inning against Oakfield (0-1), featuring a Brady Nolan RBI single to take a 6-0 lead over the hosting Oaks.
“We were able to scratch across six runs in the first inning by making it all the way through their lineup,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
The Cougars were able to add two more runs in the third inning to extend their lead to 8-0 over Oakfield.
Campbellsport got an RBI single from Braden Bothe to increase the Cougars’ lead to 9-0 and helped his own cause on the pitching mound.
“Braden was sharp on the mound for us,” said Krug.
The Cougars scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning, highlighted by a Trent Schladweiler RBI single to put them ahead 12-0, then Schladweiler closed down the game on the pitcher’s mound with a clean inning for the Campbellsport victory.
Brody Nolan and Kyler Bowe led the Cougars with two hits apiece, which was aided by Braden Bothe’s nine strikeouts in four innings of shutout baseball on the mound.
Vs Chilton
On April 1, Campbellsport baseball beat Chilton 4-3 on the opening day of their 2025 season.
Campbellsport (3-0) scored their first run in the first inning with an RBI single from Riley Kohlmann to take a 1-0 lead over Chilton (0-1).
The Cougars extended their lead in the second inning with an RBI triple from Jace Goebel and then a two-run bomb from Brody Nolan for a 4-0 lead over the visiting Tigers.
“That would be all the Kohlmann brothers would need to take care of business on the mound,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Campbellsport still held on to their 4-0 lead going into the sixth inning when Chilton got on the scoreboard with three runs to tighten the game at 4-3.
The Cougars closed the door on the Tigers with Gage Kohlmann finishing off the win on the mound.
