Campbellsport Baseball Sweeps NFDL/Oakfield

On May 9, Campbellsport baseball lost 7-6 to New Holstein in eight innings at home.
Campbellsport (9-9) scored two runs in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead over New Holstein (10-5), featuring a two-run RBI single by Trent Schladweiler.
The Huskies scored a run in the third and two runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead over the Cougars.
The Cougars responded with three runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run RBI double from Cullen Reis and a RBI single from Schaldweiler to take a 5-3 lead.

Sawyer Galligan hit a RBI double in the seventh inning to take a 6-3 lead, but New Holstein responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to send the game into extra innings tied at six.
New Holstein loaded the bases with one out, and the Huskies were able to get the winning run across the plate to win the game 7-6 in eight innings.
Trent Schaldweiler and Cullen Reis led the offense by combining for five runs batted in for the Cougars.
Campbellsport baseball lost 10-6 to Grafton in the first of two games at home.
Grafton (9-6) held a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning over Campbellsport (9-9) before Keegan Bowe hit a leadoff single to help hold the bases for the Cougars in the bottom of the inning.
The Cougars scored three runs to tie the game at three without getting another hit in the inning.
Campbellsport got two more runs in the second inning, featuring an RBI single from Trent Schaldweiler and a Jace Goebel Sac Fly to take a 5-3 lead.
The Blackhawks scored two runs in the third and one run in the fourth inning to retake the lead at 6-5 over the Cougars.
Keegan Bowe scored with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at six.
Grafton went on to score four runs over the next two innings to secure the 10-6 non-conference win over Campbellsport.
At NFDL/Oakfield
On May 7, Campbellsport baseball beat NFDL/Oakfield 12-1 in five innings on the road to sweep the season series between the two teams.
Campbellsport (9-9, 3-6) took a 1-0 lead over NFDL/Oakfield (4-8, 4-6) with two outs in the second inning thanks to a Gage Kohlmann RBI single.
The Cougars took control of the game in the third inning, facing two outs to take a 7-0 lead, highlighted by a Kohlmann two-run RBI double and RBI singles from Trent Schladweiler and Levi Bentz.
Schladweiler hit an RBI triple in the fourth inning to give the Cougars a commanding 8-0 lead over the O’s.
Campbellsport scored four runs in the fifth inning after getting the bases loaded, featuring a two-run RBI double from Wyatt Loehr to give the Cougars a 12-0 lead.
NFDL/Oakfield scored their only run in the bottom of the fifth inning against the Cougars.
Cullen Reis got the win for Campbellsport by pitching five innings and striking out nine batters in the 12-1 conference win in five innings.
Gage Kohlmann and Wyatt Loehr combined to drive in five runs to pace the Campbellsport offense in the contest.
Vs NFDL/Oakfield
On May 5, Campbellsport baseball defeated NFDL/Oakfield 2-0 at home to get its second conference win of the season.
Campbellsport (9-9, 3-6) broke open a scoreless tie against NFDL/Oakfield (4-8, 4-6) in the fourth inning, facing two outs.
The Cougars got RBI singles from Jace Goebel and Carter Gellings to take a 2-0 lead after four innings against the 0’s.
Pitcher Levi Bentz pitched a complete game shutout, with the help of his defense, to secure the 2-0 conference victory.
“We won a pitchers’ duel with Levi being sharp in his complete game shutout,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Campbellsport baseball traveled to Omro on May 12 after print time. The Cougars hosted Omro on May 14, will travel to Kewaskum on May 15, and then to Mayville on May 18, with game times at 5 p.m.
