On April 24, Campbellsport baseball defeated Green Lake/Princeton 8-3 at home in a non-conference matchup.
Green Lake/Princeton (4-4) scored a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over Campbellsport (6-4).
Wyatt Loehr led off the bottom of the first inning before the Cougars scored five runs with two outs, highlighted by a Sawyer Galligan two-run RBI single to left to take a 5-1 lead after the first inning.
GLP scored a run in the second inning, and the Cougars got a Sac Fly from Galligan in the third inning to make the score 6-2 in favor of Campbellsport.
Carson Heisdorf led off the fifth inning with a single and came around to score to give the Cougars a 7-3 lead.
Campbellsport finished off the scoring in the game when Levi Bentz hit a RBI single in the sixth inning, giving the Cougars an 8-3 victory.
Sawyer Galligan paced the Campbellsport offense with three runs batted in the non-conference matchup.
At Laconia
On April 23, Campbellsport baseball beat Laconia 8-4 on the road for the first conference win and to split the season series between the two teams.
Laconia (4-2, 2-2) started fast with a 2-0 lead over Campbellsport (6-4, 1-4) before the Cougars responded in the second inning with getting a run when Wyatt Loehr walked with the bases loaded.
The Cougars took the lead in the third inning by scoring four runs, highlighted by an RBI double from Carson Heisdorf and an RBI single from Sawyer Galligan to take a 5-2 lead over the Spartans.
Campbellsport got an RBI double from Levi Bentz in the fourth inning, and Trent Schladweiler hit a leadoff double in the sixth inning to help the Cougars take a 7-2 lead.
Cullen Reis hit an RBI double in the seventh inning to help his own cause on the mound to push the Cougars’ lead ot 8-2 before the Spartans scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Campbellsport’s offense was led by Trent Schladweiler, Jace Goebel, and Levi Bentz, who combined to score six runs in the conference victory.
Cullen Reis went the distance for the Cougars in the win by striking out four batters and only allowing six hits in the matchup.
“We exploded for 15 hits on the road for your first conference win,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Vs Laconia
On April 21, Campbellsport baseball lost Laconia 8-4 at home in their Flyway Conference matchup.
Laconia (4-2, 2-2) got a 3-0 lead in the second inning over Campbellsport (5-4, 1-4) before the Cougars responded with a run in the third inning after getting the bases loaded with no outs and getting a Sac Fly from Cullen Reis to make the score 3-1.
The Spartans pushed their lead to 7-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when the Cougars got the bases loaded with two outs and Gage Kohlmann hit a single to right field to drive in two runs.
The two teams traded runs to make the final score 8-4 in favor of Laconia.
Campbellsport baseball traveled to WLA on April 28 after print time. The Cougars hosted WLA on April 30 at 4:30 p.m. and will travel to Columbus on May 1 at 5 p.m. They will host Fond du Lac on May 4 at 5 p.m.
