Campbellsport Boys Basketball Finishes Regular Season with Two Home Games

On February 25, Campbellsport boys basketball lost 59-43 to Oakfield at home.
Campbellsport (6-18) jumped out to a 6-0 lead over Oakfield (16-7) thanks to three-pointers from Jace Goebel and Noah Bobb.
The Cougars’ defense held the Oaks without a point for the first six minutes of the game before Oakfield went on a 17-2 scoring run to take a 17-8 lead.
Owen Bong knocked down two consecutive three-pointers for Campbellsport to close the gap on the scoreboard to 17-14.

Campbellsport got five points scored by Bobb and another Goebel three-pointer to make the score 24-22 in favor of the visiting Oaks.
The Cougars scored the final four points of the first half, highlighted by Bobb flipping the ball over his shoulder into the basket for a halftime score of 27-26, with Oakfield having the one-point lead.
Emmett Gonnering converted an offensive rebound into two points early in the second half to keep the score at 29-28, with Oakfield leading the game.
Campbellsport’s Braden Bothe knocked down a three-pointer with 10:24 on the game clock to make the score 41-33 in favor of Oakfield.
Goebel hit his third three-pointer and Gonnering got a steal to tighten the game back up for the Cougars at 45-38 with seven minutes left.
Bothe made a three-pointer to put the score at 54-43 before the Oaks scored the final five points in their 59-43 non-conference win.
Noah Bobb led the Cougars with 10 points in the contest.
“We had a great first half but couldn’t get anything going offensively in the second half,” said Head Coach Ethan Elliott.
Vs Laconia
On February 27, Campbellsport boys basketball lost 66-47 to Laconia on Senior Night for Owen Bong, Luke Pendowski, Emmett Gonnering, Trevor Schanen, Braden Bothe, Eli Fleischman, and Connor Waldschmidt.
Campbellsport (6-18, 4-10) was trailing 14-9 to Laconia (20-4, 10-4) after Braden Bothe made his second three-pointer of the game.
Laconia had extended their lead to 25-13 when the Cougars’ offense woke up in a big way with three straight three-pointers, with the last one being from Bong at the six-minute mark of the first half, to make the score 27-22 in favor of the Spartans.
The Cougars’ Pendowski scored the final seven points of the first half to tie the game up at 29 when the two teams went into their locker rooms for halftime.
Campbellsport continued their strong play when Jace Goebel stepped into his three-point attempt and sunk the shot to tie the game at 32.
Gonnering converted a basket in the post to keep the teams even in the game, with both teams sitting at 36 on the scoreboard.
Campbellsport got two baskets from Noah Bobb to keep the Cougars within striking distance at 45-40 with Laconia in the lead.
The Cougars were able to get the score to 50-45 with 4:30 left on the game clock after Carter Gelling scored five straight points for Campbellsport.
Laconia closed out the game on a 16-2 scoring stretch during the final four minutes to come away with a 66-47 victory over the hosting Cougars.
Jace Goebel paced Campbellsport with 10 points in the conference matchup.
Eight-seed Campbellsport boys basketball will host nine-seed Sheboygan Falls in the first round of the Division 3 WIAA Tournament on March 4 at 7 p.m.
