Posted

On January 2, Campbellsport boys basketball lost 63-43 to Oakfield on the road to kick off the 2026 year.
Campbellsport (1-8) got out to a 13-6 lead over Oakfield (5-2) thanks to five points apiece from Noah Bobb and Carter Gellings.
Bobb and Gelings combined to score five more points to put the Cougars’ lead at 18-14 before the Oaks scored ten consecutive points to give Oakfield a 24-18 lead with five minutes left in the first half.
The Cougars got a basket, a backdoor pass from Cullen Reis to Bobb after a timeout, and then Gellings knocked down two three-point shots to close the gap to 29-27.

Oakfield finished off the first half to take a 34-29 lead at the halftime break over the Cougars.
Campbellsport got two free throws from Bobb to start the second half to tighten the game at 34-31, which was the closest the Cougars would get the rest of the game.
Oakfield went on to win the non-conference matchup by the score of 63-43 with Noah Bobb scoring 19 points and Carter Gellings adding 14 points for Campbellsport.
At Kohler
On December 30, Campbellsport boys basketball beat Salam 69-63 in overtime at the Kohler Holiday Tournament to finish the tournament with a 1-1 record.
Campbellsport (1-8) jumped out to a 12-3 lead over Salam (0-8) thanks to eight points and two made threes from Noah Bobb.

Bobb knocked another three to make the score 15-6 before Salam closed the gap to 15-11.
Trevin Shea made a three-pointer, giving the Cougars a 21-11 lead.
“We came out with more assertiveness to begin the game after the team had a poor start the day before, and they responded,” said Head Coach Ethan Elliott.
Salam went on a 16-6 scoring run to tie the game at 27 before Carter Gellings found Bobb on a backdoor cut for a basket to regain the lead at 29-27. Salam scored last in the first half to put the score at 29-29 before the break.

Gellings knocked down a three-pointer from the corner on a pass from Shea to take a 32-29 lead on the first possession of the second half.
Salam scored the next seven points before Trent Schladweiler scored four points to give the Cougars the lead back at 38-36.
Cayden Flasch made a three from the wing, and Bobb rattled one in from the top of the key, giving Campbellsport a 44-41 lead over Salam.
Salam took a 52-48 lead over the Cougars before Campbellsport responded with six straight points, highlighted by a Shea basket, to regain the lead 54-42 with less than four minutes left in the game.
The Cougars found themselves down 58-54 with less than one minute on the game clock when Pierce Kaehne drove to the basket to trim the deficit to two, and then Bobb got a steal, which set up Schladweiler at the free-throw line to tie the game.
Schladweiler proceeded to make one free throw to make the score 58-57. Then, the Cougars’ defense caused an errant pass, which was picked off in the air by Bobb with seven seconds left.
Bobb went to the free-throw line with 3.5 seconds left in regulation, and he converted the second free throw to tie the game at 58.
Salam tried one last shot, but Schladweiler blocked it to send the game into overtime at the Kohler Holiday Tournament.
“Trent, Cayden, and Levi had the difficult task of playing defense on one of the best scorers (Badam 35.3 ppg) in the state,” said Elliott. “They were tough and forced difficult shots all day.”
Kaehne made a basket, and Bobb knocked down three free throws to take a 63-59 lead in overtime, but Salam tied the game up at 63.
Campbellsport scored the final six points in overtime, highlighted by a tough drive by Kaehne to take a 65-63 lead and capped off with a Carter Gellings layup after a Schladweiler steal for the 69-63 overtime victory.
“At the end of the game, our grittiness was on display as we came back by creating turnovers and making free throws,” said Elliott.
Senior Noah Bobb led the Cougars with a career-high 29 points to secure Campbellsport’s first win of the season.
“Noah had an outstanding game, and it was awesome to see a senior step up the way he did,” said Elliott.
Campbellsport hosted North Fond du Lac on January 6 after print time, and then the Cougars will host Random Lake on January 9 at 7 p.m.
