On August 29, the Campbellsport Boys Cross Country Team finished in second place with 103 points at the 30th annual Glen Herold Invitational in Watertown to start their cross-country season.
“It was the first time we participated in this large meet that featured several Division I schools,” said Head Coach Mike Kulibert. “We placed four runners in the top fifteen, but could not match the depth of Verona finishing in second.”
The Cougars were led by Senior Garrett Pickering in second place and Junior Mason Dirmeier in ninth place during the Invitational.
“Garrett opened his senior season by battling for top runner honors and came close by finishing in second individually,” said Kulibert.
Junior Caleb Siebauer’s 1lth-place finish, combined with Freshman Porter Faust’s 12th-place finish, helped the Cougars finish in second place as a team.
The Campbellsport Girls Cross Country team finished in ninth place with 225 points at the Invitational.
“With many new faces on the team this year, Senior Eva Pendowski had a career-best time of 23:14 and Sophomore Madeline Kester surprised the team with a 52nd-place finish during the Invite,” said Kulibert.
Campbellsport Cross-Country teams travel to Kiel on September 3 at 4 p.m.
