CHS CROSS COUNTRY
Campbellsport hosted the 53rd annual Cougar Cross Country Invitational last Thursday, October 10, at Campbellsport Elementary School. Thirteen schools competed in the meet.
The Cougar boys’ varsity team had seven runners in the top 12 to win the meet with the low score of 20 points. Kettle Moraine Lutheran senior Kyle Kieper was the individual winner of the race with a course record 16:30. Kettle Moraine Lutheran was the runner-up with 67 points.
Led by Noah Bobb (first place), Aydryan Meilahn (third place), and Mason Dirmeier (fifth place), the Campbellsport ‘ JV team took first place with 45 points. Runner-up Washington County Homeschool Athletics was a close second with 49 points.
Campbellsport’s girls’ varsity finished in sixth place. Izzy Sperfslage, Lorelei Walker, and Payton Temperle ran the challenging home course faster than last year. Temperle had a career best time of 26:38.
Campbellsport will travel to St. Lawrence Seminary next Thursday, October 17, to participate in the Wisconsin Flyway Conference meet. The first race will feature the girls’ varsity and JV runners at 4 p.m. The boys’ varsity and JV runners compete at 4:45. The middle school race will start at 5:25.
The 2024 Campbellsport cross country team thank Head Coach Mike Kulibert for his 48 years of coaching as he is inducted into the C.H.S. Athletic Hall of Fame on Thursday, Oct. 10.
