Campbellsport Cross Country Season Preview
Head Coach: Mike Kulibert
Campbellsport boys cross country team includes seniors Garrett Pickering and Caleb Siebauer plus Junior Mason Dirmeier from last season’s Conference championship team and State Meet
qualifying team.
The three mentioned runners finished first through third at the Conference Meet last season, with Garrett being the individual runner-up at the Portage Sectional and taking seventh place at the State Meet.
“Staying healthy, including competing for a conference championship again and being competitive in the Kewaskum Sectional, are our season goals,” said Head Coach Mike Kulibert.
“The Conference should be stronger since there were many young teams last season, and a year’s experience will make a big difference,” said Kulibert.
“We have a tough early schedule with the team competing for the first time in the Glen Herold Invite hosted by Watertown and features many Division 1 schools,” said Kulibert. “The Kiel Invite is always a strong early-season test and the Cougars will again compete in the Neenah Nightfall Classic, which brings in many of the top teams in the area.
“We will have a nice mix of veteran runners and new runners on the girls cross country team, with several incoming freshmen who were part of the middle school program,” said Kulibert.
“After finishing 7th or 8th in the conference the last few years, the team’s goal is to be more competitive in both conference and sectionals,” said Kulibert.
“Sophomore Ava Basile became the team’s number one runner late in the season,” said Kulibert. “Senior Eva Pendowski will take over the team leadership role, and will also look to improve on her times from last season.”
“Once again, Lomira looks like the team to beat, and the Lions should have all of their runners back from a team that finished second in the Sectional and took sixth place at the State Meet,” said Kulibert. “Like the boys, there were several young teams that could make a move this year.”
