Campbellsport Girls Basketball Hosts Youth Night in Conference Play

On December 10, Campbellsport girls’ basketball lost 62-31 to Winnebago Lutheran Academy (WLA) in their Flyway Conference matchup.

Campbellsport (2-5, 1-2) was behind WLA (42, 2-1) 11-4 early in the first half before Kiera Laverenz made three baskets for the Cougars to make the score 15-10 with seven minutes left in the first half.

WLA closed the final seven minutes of the first half on an 18-4 scoring run to put the Vikings up 33-14 at halftime.

The Vikings continued to control the game in the second half by starting with a 17-1 run to expand their lead to 50-15 with nine minutes left on the second-half clock over the visiting Cougars.

Campbellsport scored four straight points to get the game to 50-19, featuring a Laverenz basket.

The two teams were even the rest of the game with each team scoring 12 points with WLA closing out the 62-31 conference victory.

Kiera Laverenz led the Cougars with 12 points in the Flyway conference game.

Vs Omro

On December 13, Campbellsport girls’ basketball lost 57-22 to Omro on the youth night for the program.

Omro (5-2, 2-1) held a 6-0 lead over Campbellsport (2-5, 1-2) before Brittany Reilly put in an offensive rebound for the Cougars to get on the scoreboard.

The Foxes went on a 17-0 scoring run to expand their lead to 23-2 when Hadlee Rohlfs converted an offensive rebound into two points for Campbellsport.

Omro closed out the final eight minutes of the half with a 13-4 run to have a 36-8 halftime lead.

The Cougars got a three-pointer from Josie Twohig to close the gap to 39-13 before the Foxes finished off the game to get the 57-22 conference victory.

Brittany Reilly was the leading scorer for Campbellsport with seven points on youth night.

“We are a young team and will continue to work as the process of growing and learning as a program,” said Head Coach Ray La Batte. “It was awesome to see the young, future Cougars at youth night supporting the girls in the high school program.”

Campbellsport travels to NFDL on December 17 and hosts Washington County Home School on December 19 with game times at 7 p.m.

The Campbellsport girls’ program had youth night on December 13.
