The Campbellsport High School boys’ bowling team made a notable impact at the State Tournament held at Rolling Thunder Lanes in Neenah. From the very beginning, the Cougars showcased their skill and determination, eventually securing a commendable third place finish.
Throughout the season, the team’s performance was exemplary. They finished second in their conference, consistently demonstrating teamwork and dedication. Each member contributed to their collective success, setting the stage for their remarkable showing at the state level.
The State Tournament kicked off with a qualifying round consisting of 15 Baker games. The Cougars showed their prowess by finishing in second place with an impressive score of 3,123. This result came from an average of 208 per game, reflecting their skill and cohesive team dynamics. Brown Deer emerged as the top qualifier with a score of 3,191.
Entering the stepladder finals, the Cougars faced tough competition. Their first match was against the number-three seed, Antigo. Antigo came out strong, scoring an outstanding 277 in the first game of the two-game match. Despite their best efforts, the Cougars were unable to match this performance, losing the match 327 to 463. This defeat placed them in the third position overall.
The boys’ bowling team’s success at the State Tournament was a true testament to their teamwork. Every member played a crucial role, contributing to the team’s overall performance. Their season was filled with high points, culminating in their second place finish in the conference.
Carson Schrauth Wins State Bowling Singles Title
Carson Schrauth, a junior in high school, has clinched the State Bowling Singles Title, marking a significant achievement in his burgeoning sports career. The tournament, held at Rolling Thunder Lanes in Neenah, saw participation from 109 talented young bowlers. After an intense first round, only 28 advanced, further narrowing down to the top five contenders.
Carson’s journey to victory was nothing short of remarkable. In the first round of qualifying, he amassed a score of 717 with individual game scores of 256, 216, and 245, placing him in the sixth position. Determined to improve his ranking, Carson delivered an outstanding performance in the second round, scoring 223, 258, and 277, culminating in a 758 series. This impressive display elevated his combined qualifying score to 1,475, propelling him to the number-one spot for the stepladder finals.
The final match saw Carson face off against Devin Mckiski from Marshfield, the number-two seed. The competition began evenly, with both players starting with a strike and nine miss in the first two frames. However, Carson soon took command, throwing nine consecutive strikes and securing a commanding lead. The match concluded with Carson triumphing with a final score of 266 to 185, earning him the coveted title.
