On March 27, the Campbellsport National Honor Society invited local speaker Josh Wege to share his story.
Lance Corporal Josh Wege was a captain for the USA Patriots softball team and is active in the Wounded Warrior Project organization.
He spoke about his experience in the Marines and how, during deployment, his vehicle hit an explosive device, leaving him a double lower-limb amputee.
Despite this life-altering event, Josh shared how the challenge has positively impacted his life. He explained that he once struggled with a “small guy” complex, but through adversity, he no longer sees himself that way. Instead, he emphasized that challenges help us grow.
Josh also spoke about the importance of setting small, achievable goals. Accomplishing these goals creates a sense of success and builds the confidence needed to pursue larger ones.
He shared that even something as simple as making your bed in the morning can set a positive tone for the day, encouraging you to continue setting and achieving goals.
At the end of the day, returning to that made bed serves as a reminder that you accomplished something, helping you end the day on a positive note—no matter how difficult it may have been.
The Campbellsport chapter of the National Honor Society thanks Josh for inspiring us to set goals, strive to achieve them, and persevere through challenges. It is through these challenges that we grow the most.
