On May 19, Campbellsport softball beat NFDL 4-2 for their 11th win of the softball season.
Campbellsport (11-11, 6-7) scored two runs in the first inning thanks to an Olivia McCarty RBI single and Peyton Hall’s Sac Fly to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead over NFDL (4-13, 3-11).
NFDL scored a run in the second inning to close the gap to 2-1 before the Cougars got a RBI single from Hall to left field in the top of the third inning to increase their lead to 3-1.
The Cougars’ Emma Batzler hit a triple in the fifth inning, and she was driven in by Hall for a 4-1 lead over the Orioles.
Campbellsport secured the 4-2 victory thanks to strong seven innings in the pitching circle and three runs batted in from Peyton Hall, plus Emma Batzler getting three hits in the victory.
Game Two vs Manawa
On May 17, Campbellsport softball lost 6-3 to Manawa to close out their softball day at the Oakfield diamonds.
Manawa (15-2) took a 1-0 lead over Campbellsport (11-11) in the first inning before Mackenzie Helsell scored a run in the top of the second inning to tie the game at one run apiece.
The Cougars were behind 3-1 in the sixth inning, when Kaylie Jandre hit a RBI single with two outs after singles from Emma Muraski and Helsell to tighten up the game at 3-2 in favor of Manawa.
Manawa scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to push their lead to 6-2 over the Cougars.
Campbellsport was able to get an RBI double from Emma Muraski in the seventh inning with two outs, but the Cougars weren’t able to score another run in the final inning to make the final score 6-3.
Game One at Oakfield
On May 17, Campbellsport softball won 13-7 over Oakfield by scoring the final ten runs of the game to secure the non-conference road win.
Campbellsport (11-11) got a double from Emma Batzler to center and a two-run RBI double by Olivia McCarty to take a lead 2-0 over Oakfield (14-5) in the first inning.
The Cougars loaded the bases with two outs with the game still in the first inning, Josie Twohig took a walk, resulting in the final run coming across for Cambpellsport to take a 3-0 lead over the Oaks.
Oakfield responded by scoring seven runs in the next two innings for a 7-3 lead going into the fourth inning, where the Cougars got doubles by McKenna Loehr and Peyton Hall, which scored two runs for Campbellsport to tighten the game at 7-5 before the Oaks got two outs against the Cougars.
Campbellsport’s Megan McCarty hit a double to left field with two outs to drive in the final run of fourth inning to put the score at 7-6.
The Cougars were able to tie the game at seven runs when Loehr drove in a run with a single, and with two outs, Batzler ripped a double to drive in two runs to give Campbellsport their first lead at 9-7 in the bottom of the fifth since the first inning.
Campbellsport’s bats were done with scoring runs with two outs against them, when Loehr smacked a double to left to drive-in two teammates to expand the Cougars' lead to 11-7.
Muraski drove in a run with a single, and Batzler got her third double of the game to drive in the final two runs of their 13-7 victory over Oakfield.
Emma Batzler and McKenna Loehr combined to hit five doubles, resulting with seven runners batted in to pace the offense in their non-conference victory on the road.
At Omro
On May 13, Campbellsport softball defeated Omro 12-0 in six innings on the road.
Campbellsport (11-11, 5-7) got four singles in the first inning, featuring an Emma Batzler RBI single to center before loading bases with two outs against Omro (1-18, 0-12).
Shea Willacker laced a triple to center field to drive in three runs for the Cougars to give them a 4-0 lead after the first inning.
Campbellsport scored two runs in the top of the third inning, highlighted by a McKenna Loehr RBI single with two outs to increase the Campbellsport lead to 6-0 over the Foxes.
The Cougars' offense really got their bats going in the sixth inning with RBI singles from Gracie Schwarz, Emma Muraski, Mackenzie Helsell, and Olivia McCarty to give Campbellsport the 12-0 win in six innings against Omro.
Ava Sabish and Mackenzie Helsell combined to shutout the Foxes with seven strikeouts in the impressive 12-0 conference win for the Cougars.
Emma Batzler and Shea Willacker combined for five runs batted in off of five hits to pace the Campbellsport offense in the matchup against Omro.
Campbellsport hosted WLA on May 20 and is scheduled to play at Random Lake on May 22, with game times at 5 p.m. The Cougars received a six seed in the Division 2 WIAA Softball tournament, where they will play at three seed KML on May 27.
