Campbellsport Wrestling has a Strong Start to their Season

Posted

On December 6, the Campbellsport boys’ wrestling team finished in third place out of 15 teams at the 25th annual Gerald “Sarge” Marking Wrestling Scramble.
“Porter brought home the 175-pound title by going 5-0 with four pins on the day,” said Head Coach Alex Costello. “Erich racked up three pins and a major decision to put himself in the 157-pound final, where he finished with a second-place finish.
“Jacob and Zach finished with third-place finishes on the day, collecting some great wins throughout the day, highlighted by Zach getting a pin over a returning Division 1 state qualifier in the second round,” said Costello.
At Waukesha South

On December 5, the Campbellsport girls’ wrestling team finished in sixth place out of 22 teams at the Waukesha South Scramble.
Emma Batzler and Savanna Ksioszk each won their weight class championships by going 5-0 at the scramble.
At Laconia
On December 4, Campbellsport wrestling beat Laconia 53-25 in their conference season opener on the road.
The Cougars got pins by Porter Klotz, Zach Zimdahl, Reed Scannell, Logan Knoeck, and Erich Cappozzo in their matchup against the Spartans.
“The dual started with Porter bumping a weight class after trailing early, locking up a slick throw and pinning his opponent, Owen Larson,” said Head Coach Alex Costello. “Zach and Reed kept it rolling, making quick work in their matches.”
“Logan also bumped a weight class to collect a second-period pin, and Trayton went up a class to lose a barn burner in overtime with some very good wrestling from the freshman,” said Costello.
Campbellsport boys and girls wrestling hosts Mayville on December 11 at 7 p.m., and then the boys’ team will travel to Wisconsin Dells on December 13 at 9 a.m. The Campbellsport girls’ team will travel to Brillion on December 12 at 4:30 p.m.
